I usually don't even use more than 100 minutes a month. Would it be possible to just get the data plan and then pay for "minutes over what I get for my plan" (none). If so, what would be the price?
EDIT: THIS WAS A DIFFERENT TOPIC TO BEGIN WITH. NEW THREAD NEEDED.

Clarification: What plans are there?

Use google lazy.

The data is $30, or $45 if you want to use the Exchange function (MobileMe can be used on the $30). The voice starts at $40 and goes up in increments of $10 and 450 minutes. So $40 gives you 450 minutes, $50 gives you 900, etc. $120 total (data+voice) gets you unlimited everything, including minutes.

Are you able to link your iphone to your laptop to route internet access?

Nope. AT&T said no tethering allowed.

What I am wondering is how would they prevent your iPhone from joining an Ad-Hoc wireless network and you manually define the default gateway to the 3G Cellular interface?

Seems like a surefire way to get around the no tethering policy and you are using the normal iPhone firmware, your normal Laptop with normal 802.11 wireless networking.

At least from a technical perspective, that is. wink.gif

If that works, Expect an Ad-Hoc patch sad.gif If there isn't a patch, great bypass!
