It's been there for a bit, good for people who don't know about the Enabler. It's made by Kabyl and makes AZAL audio into Intel HDEF in the dev tree.

I get all of it. The one bug I see is Speaker out is Internal, and I don't have internal speakers, it's connected to speakers. Even in System prefs it says Internal Speakers.

HDAEnabler.kext on some Dell's does not work, the System Profiler Shows Audio (Built In) but no sound on any port.
So ALCinject.kext is not obsolete at all.

Repairung permissions ONLY!!! can work for Apple .kexts NEVER for selfmade. Repair permission function simply didnt know anything about right permissions for selfmade .kext !
If permissions didnt "fit" (mostly owner:group problem<> root:wheel) the .kext, even installed will not be loaded !
You can check that if THATS your problem by open an terminal and type ls -lR add an SPACE and drag & Drop the xxx.kext into the terminal window.
Result should be (ever root:wheel):

Do you can set Sound Settings in the Systempreferences ?
It set correct (to which Port/ Plug Audio Out goes) you should have sound already !
Try all available Output Ports if you have more than one listet.
(One should be LINIE OUT, one Headphone, ....) Mine all named same BUG?!, but i took the firrst and have sound
on line out.

You need both the patched HDA and the Enabler. To do a codec dump you need to go into linux and type this:
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#1 > ~/Desktop/codec_dump.txt
It could be codec#1 or 0 or 2 depending so it's trial and error.

I have both kexts. installed them, nothing happened.
Patched AppleHDA.kext works perfectly with alc 888 after i replaced alcinject.kext with HDAEnabler.kext.

Well I went ahead and used taruga's patch 1.20 with alc888.txt
Everything was detected but on restart I lost sound and system profiler went back to no built in audio...
taruga's patch removed appleazalia.kext which was apparently providing me with sound...
Replaced azalia and bam.....Sound again...
I tried this because I wanted to see all my inputs in system profiler...guess i went about this incorrectly.
Somebody explain this to us.................

Tried this with my 889A and it seemed to work but everything sounded terrible, almost zero bass output! I'll wait for another release but back to ALCinject for me which works fine.
For those that tried it with the ALC882, does it give full 6 channel output or just the 2 like with ALCinject? If only two, then what makes this better than ALCinject?

anibalin: By "works like a charm" do you mean 2-channel or all 6 audio jacks working correctly?
Some trick for 882 on lapies? I don't have nothing (it show inputs and outputs but no has sound).

same results here with ALC888 and HDAenabler. output works, but the headphone input is recognized as internal microphone, and line out on the mb is recognized as built-in speaker on the sound control panel. other than that, sound works, recognized in the sys profiler, louder output than alcinject for me , but as mentioned almost baseless, turn the base on my external speakers all the way up and the sub is almost unchanged.

In my ALC883 there is a "click" just before you play some sound, and after you have bee silent for a while and play a sound again. Something similar happened to me when I edited 10.5.2 AppleHDA.kext for my ALC883.

Yes, with the new .kext , i use ALC883 (AuDIO shown in Systemprofiler) Hear 1.0.2 didnt crash anymore !!
1.0.1 didnt crash with the old Audio, not shown in Systemprofiler.

Thanks Zarac, got the sound finally working on my Vostro 200
Tried on Aspire M5630 (G31 + ICH7/888S), it loads, i can see all the In/out channels in the Audio configuration pannel but there is NO sound out/in, just silence 
... i can only hear a small "click" just during the boot. Later i'll upload my linux-dump, hope it can help. Anyway, great work!
P.S: i registered on Taruga's wiki but i'm still waiting for the confirmation-email

In my ALC883 there is a "click" just before you play some sound, and after you have bee silent for a while and play a sound again. Something similar happened to me when I edited 10.5.2 AppleHDA.kext for my ALC883.
I have the same problem here. So, back to the old kext which worked fine for me...
