I'm going to be on vacation in Germany from July 4th to July 21st. Would I be able to download the 2.0 update over the phone? (Guessing no, but you never know.) Would a US phone even work in Germany?

If you have a computer, you can download it. Also, if your phone isn't unlocked, then no, it won't work.

Actually, it might work. AT&T has subsidiary GSM partners in other countries. Verizon has the same, the one Blackberry they advertised as being a WorldPhone or something, where the phone is default CDMA where available, and also able to use GSM networks of companies they signed lease agreements with outside of the USA. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same scenario with AT&T.

Yea, AT&T has a similar plan, but you need to get on their world plan in advance or you will be paying international roaming charges. Even then, make sure that you don't use any data while you are out and about.

I would assume T-Mo works there too, since they're a German company?
