Hello,

I just downloaded Windows Server 2008 Enterprise VHD (Virtual PC Hard Disk) from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...ang=en#filelist)
I added it to my virtual PC list and it has only a blue desktop.
Thank goodness though that I could use task manager and run.
Task manager's process tab had no explorer.exe in the list.
I think that is the problem.
Thanks, Machead

Hello???
CrazyVirus
what you are saying is that your explorer.exe is not running???
if so press ctrl+alt+del go to the left tab and down in the right corner the will be a button called "new task..." press it an write "explorer.exe" and press enter. there you go now it will run and if not your install is corrupted...

Do you recon I should redownload it?

I downloaded Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 from the Microsoft website.
When I go to the administration panel, it does not prompt me to log in.

Any ideas?

Make sure windows authentication is enabled for IIS, otherwise add it using add/remove programs, how to do this depends on the OS you are running, it's a little different for Vista as opposed to XP.

Realised the problem
I was not a system administrator.

I think the problem is that I forgot the RTM and I only downloaded the ServerCore.

Will try download today.

Thanks everyone that posted.
