...at my usual coffee house. Seemed like nice enough folks. A bit pat on the back-ish and the common Mac user superiority complex, but I'm guilty of that myself. Then I made the mistake of talking about my hackies. Christ! These folks got downright nasty with me. First off they didn't believe me, so I pulled out my MBP and showed them various online articles about OSx86 and home built Macs. Then they started talking about how bad this is and how it could destroy Apple and what a fragile company it is. Are these people for real? Do they not read tech industry news? Forchristsake Apple is one of the few computer manufacturers that are actaully doing well right now. I explain to them that I totally support Apple. I have a MacBook pro, G4 iBook, a Mini, and several iPods. I actively preach the benifits of Macs to friends, relatives, and customers and have converted many people to Macs over the years. This didn't seem to matter to most of them. It's still a PC and by buying PCs you support the evil Microsoft. The fact that I build my own computers and parts don't come with Windows seemed to be lost on them. After the meeting broke up a couple of folks did show an interest and wanted to talk about the process of building a HackMac. One fellow was very interested and is gonna drop by today and check out my hacks. I just don't see why most of these folks felt so threatened?

Some people, no matter where you are, you would always find some people who would love to be apprehensive, paranoid, scared, you name it... tongue.gif Ignore them, as if they don't exist at all. biggrin.gif

Just wait for when one of them buys a Mac Pro, THEN point them to the pystar website and watch them QQ

I'm seriously loosing faith in the majority of computer users after hearing and reading the stupidity spewing from their mouths. OH NOES PIRACY! Yeah bud, get used to it.

Piracy is bad. We should not be made to live in a world full of pirates.
CLiDE FTW!!1
I think we should ban the topic of OSX86 on this board, and anyone who tries to talk about it will be perma-banned.

It's the only way.

I agree. We should start by shutting down companies like Microsoft and Apple. Neither one would even be around without the theft of other people's work.

My colleagues at Dell used to send me experimental stuff to test, on my last job I requested for an extra drive in my Dell in order to run Stupid Vista, only one of the sixman team came to checkout my McDell!

So I got a 250GB WD Caviar for free and have set it too boot in a external SATA case as I just hated the "Untitled" Icon on my Hack's desktop! biggrin.gif

Somehow they feel threatened by the fact that we are "bilingual" but they have no objections when you run anything 'ix on a machine, as one said "it so damn difficult, have the world can't use it!" We actually had a separate support team for the 'Ix's!

On a more serious note.

I find it hard to be around most Mac users, especially at school (University of Central Florida), because of that whole superiority complex thing going on. I have tried numerous times to have a good conversation about a Macintosh with a user, but for some reason all they want to do is bash my Windows laptop and tell me why I should get a Macintosh. The funny thing is, most of the time, I know more about their Mac than they do.

Not all Mac users and supporters are like this though. I find it rather refreshing when I can have actual conversations about computers with intelligent Mac users such as MoC, Awesomo, and countless others on this board.

Just my two cents...

Yeah, those types of ignorant morons should stay away from a computer. dry.gif

This used to be quite regular at a local coffee shop.

I can't stand Mac users, but I can't stand not using OS X (on my hack of course).
