I'm riding a 50cc scooter around Auckland, New Zealand atm. Traffic is highly annoying here and petrol is so expensive!

Pictures will come soon...

Public Transport annoys me.... Turned out more expensive than running my scooter...

Usually, one has to have a license to ride a Dirt Bike on the road. But not in Mississippi. smile.gif

It gets about 80mpg, does 70 top end, and can go wherever I want it to.

EDIT: In a small town where people ride ATVs around, none of the cops care.

I come from a farming background so I have had my fair share of fun on dirt bikes hehe. My dad has a Suzuki DR-Z 400. Good times...

I wish we had that here. I would use it. Public transportation in most of the USA is a big joke. Here's how it is in WA state:If you live near seattle, every bus goes to seattle, none come back, every 2 hours or so.The town I live in (20 min from the canadian border). Bellingham, it has public transportation, but only until about 9pm. It is getting better all the time, but it still has a tiny ways to go.

Also, gas is about $4.75/gallon up here. 3 weeks ago it was 3.90. I think America has some hard times ahead of it, especially in the way of gas prices hehe.

I believe it can hardly be worse than here. We are paying around €1.55 a liter (that is about $2.40 a liter!!!)

(In case you are wondering, that is $9 a gallon).

Mine only costs 12 quid a week to run. Comes with free driver too.

It only costs me about £10 a month (I hardly ever go anywhere whistle.gif ) and I can take all my friends and family too!

When I lived in Amsterdam I didn't have a car, I didn't need one. But I need one here. There are supposed to be local buses, but only till noon (I have never seen one).
If you want to go to other towns, the buses all leave from a place which is far away for many, they take twice the time it would take by car, they don't run in the evening... We don't have trains either.
In Leeds I needed a car too. For instance, if I wanted to go to the local Asda, I had to go to the city center and from there to Asda. With other words, I'd spend half a day on buses for about 5 miles by direct route.
Running With Scissors
Where I live the is at least 12 different routes in my town and the major routes have buses every 10 minutes. So the isn't a need for a car, if i go somewhere else I will get a train.
Embio
Marvin - I was about to refute your point about friends and family, when I remembered I don't let them in my car....

off topic - did you hear about the woman who got on a Stagecoach bus, and the driver said it was company policy to not accept Scottish notes? She had to run back to the office and get it changed.

(that looks like the worst punchline ever, but I read it the other day)

Scottish notes aren't actually legal tender, although they are widely accepted.

Top tip: stick to English notes (especially the new £20 note, that looks amazing!)

Margaret Thatcher was a nasty piece of work, but I believe many of her reforms were useful (except of course for the poll tax).

I prefer this quote.

QUOTE(Tramp the Dirt Down @ a song written about Thatcher by Elvis Costello)
There’s one thing I know I'd like to live long enough to savour,
That’s when they finally put you in the ground,
I’ll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down.

Not long now though.

No, I wasn't wondering, I knew that 2.40/liter was around $9 a gallon. I can't wait for the day the US switches to something that works better, the metric system haha.

In Britain it is even worse, because they use both metric and imperial.

I do nearly everything in metric, apart from driving distances/speeds (but all other distances and speeds are metric).
It's not at all confusing, until I have to use imperial - most senseless system ever invented

Heh, You won't believe it, But I got it for $1,500 out of a junk yard, and the only problem is it has a cracked piston, and the interior is a mess. Other than that, it is in great condition. A couple of months work with some free time, and it will run like new. It has 18k miles on it. Im wasting my late afternoons right now rebuilding a 1991 Yamaha Timberwolf. Its in great shape, but it sat up for 8 years under a car cover, but the carb's jet had to be cleaned, and now the motor is knocking. I think the ring is cracked on it, but thats a weekend project.

The thing I like about a Benz, is the fact that (if it is a diesel) you can run it off of anything, including frier grease, or you could dump the grease from a frying pan after cooking beacon into a vat, refine it, and it run in the thing. The Benz was orgininally designed to run on these types of things. The diesel you get at a gas station is actually too rich for it. They do this to burn the motors down, and make them not last as long, so you have to buy a new one. That Benz will last 700k or more if it is taken care of. A gas engine can run 400k if it is taken care of, and you keep the oil changed.

If run an engine hard, go up one weight on your oil. For example. On my Tiburon, the recommendation is 10w30, however, I run 10 weight 40 in it. Mostly because I run the hell out of it on the weekends. The rest of the week, it sits in my garage with a cover over it.

That won't happen for a long time. The mass majority is used to the current system, and doesn't want to change it.

18K with a cracked piston? unsure.gif Are you sure the odometer didn't turn over and it's 118K? tongue.gif

Did you run a carfaq on it to get the cars history?

Have you been reading the Mail of late? I don't believe "Brussels" cares.
You'd be the first to benefit, because metric is a lot easier to calculate, and having two sets of units used to drive me nutters. I believe I am not the only one. My Scottish apprentice said exacly the same thing, many years ago.
And then all your visitors, who are a great source of income, wouldn't get totally confused.
