Ascot Racing News: Royal Ascot Dress Code
Royal Ascot Dress Code As every year the fashion stakes at Royal Ascot are as high as the quality of the racing make sure your not caught out in your admission area by adhering to the correct dress code.
General Admission ticket The General Admission ticket at Royal Ascot provides similar access facilities around the racecourse as it does at the race meetings outside of Royal Ascot. The General Admission ticket provides excellent facilities and viewing areas at ground level and lawn level. General Admission customers can watch the Royal Procession and the racing action from the lawns in front of the Grandstand. The Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring and track are both within a short walking distance, by crossing the Concourse in the main Grandstand. There are a variety of places to eat, drink and bet – from the bookmakers in the betting ring to the totepool and betting shops in the main Grandstand. Customers in this area do not have access to the upper levels of the grandstand. Unlike the race meetings outside of Royal Ascot, there is not the opportunity to upgrade your ticket.
General Admission Dress Code Ladies with a General Admission ticket are required to dress in a manner appropriate to a smart occasion. Many wear hats although this is not compulsory. Gentlemen in the General Admission area must wear a shirt and tie, preferably with a suit or jacket. Sports attire, jeans and shorts are strictly forbidden. Silver Ring ticket With a less formal atmosphere, the Silver Ring at Ascot is a separate admission area that does not provide access to the Parade Ring or the main Grandstand. The Silver Ring still provides an excellent position to watch the Royal Procession and the racing action. There are a variety of places to eat, drink and place a bet.
Silver Ring Dress Code Whilst we encourage racegoers to wear smart clothing, no formal dress code applies. Royal Enclosure Dress Code Her Majesty's Representative wishes to point out that only formal day dress with a hat or substantial fascinator will be acceptable.
Off the shoulder, halter neck, spaghetti straps and dresses with a strap of less than one inch and / or mini skirts are considered unsuitable. Midriffs must be covered and trouser suits must be full length and of matching material and colour. Gentlemen are required to wear either black or grey morning dress, including a waistcoat, with a top hat.
Overseas visitors are welcome to wear the formal national dress of their country or Service dress.

Ladies and Gentlemen not complying with the above dress regulations will be asked to leave the Royal Enclosure and relieved of their Royal Enclosure badge.
