Hey everyone,

Finally, the 3G iPhone's out with some nifty new features (coming july 11th actually!)

And finally, also on July 11th, the 3G iPhone is coming to Australia on Optus and vodafone!!!! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I really like the look of some of the new features, the 3g, the dual 2.0megapixel cameras for video calling, it looks really fantastic. AND THE PRICE?!?!?! 8GB starting at only $199US!!!!!!!! Seriously they've got to be kidding, it's like the best phone ever and is the price of the worst phone.................

For you Aussies out there, (like myself) when the iPhone 3g comes to Optus and vodafone on July 11th, how much do you think it will cost? I think around $220-$250 because that's about the same price as $199US. It looks really good and it's on my favorite provider (optus, yayyyyyyy!)

so what's your opinion? (even if you're in the US)

It sounds really awesome, best phone ever IMO. So glad it's coming to South Africa. Only problem is that you need to get a contract to get it, they are probably gonna clamp down a lot on unlocking. Apple are talking about penalties if you don't update in a month. We'll see but I don't think it's gonna be like before when you could just unlock the phone. Getting it on pre-paid will probably cost a bit more then.

I'm curious to see what the price is gonna be...no-one knows for sure yet here in South Africa. No-one knows when it's coming for sure here either, although rumours say 20 July...

By the way, it doesn't have dual cameras, only one at the back.

really hoping that the telcoms wont rip off the masses here is aus.. Gizmodo's inaccurate leak brought on crazy flames by users about the prices, but rest assured optus has rectified the inaccurate info.

i agree that with prepaid they will definitely jack up the prices, blaming it on taxes and all sorts of other stuff. I just hope they wont charge for the phone and tie us to a ridiculous cap plan though, without exclusivity to a certain carrier, there will be interesting competition to offer the best price for plan. Interesting to note also that apple took out the nice iphone dock from its included accessories. i'm not too happy about that but its not exactly a deal breaker anyway.

with that said, i had hoped for a larger hd on the phone, user replaceable batts as well as a better camera esp one for video calls... video calls is just one of the many uses of 3G speeds. Imagine video blogging on the fly, audio and video diaries, podcasts...

however so, i still feel that the lack of mms support is not very impressive on a 'touted' next gen phone. I am nt too sure if the camera on the new iphone supports video recording or not. Any1 has heads up on that??

if you own a 1st gen iphone or an ipod touch, check this out:

cheers... awaiting good news down under!
