Is it safe or not to hackintoshes ???

I have QuickTime 7.4.5, but I'm 100% sure that QuickTime updates are OK. All they do is install a new version of QuickTime.

Updated to quicktime 7.5 on my Kalaway install and its working perfect no problems whatsoever.

Works on my AMD system using Zephyroth's ASU 0.5. It did find some CPUID's so if you have an AMD machine be sure to run Marvin's or update with the ASU app.

Mobo: Asus P5B
Gfx: Asus7300GT silent (shown: Can I has this model?, everything working with nvkush from Diabolik)
Vanilla kernel 9.3.0

update went fine except that now safari is crashing everytime
warning says:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder[162]: CPSGetProcessInfo(): This call is deprecated and should not be called anymore.
I found that it can be linked to RAM excess problem ( ie : 4 GB )
or because I used the wizard for transfer DATAS and soft and that I rather install everything again, but manually. I avoid that I'd prefer an other solution...
any idea ?

I've checked on my 10.5.3 Kalway installation with vanila kernel 9.3.0 and it won't apears on SUpdate.. who knows why ?

I got restart and shutdown to work after this update.

After updating to 10.5.3 with kalyways combo I have tried alsorts of fixes to get shutdown and restart to work properly. Old kernels, modified kernels AppleACPIPlatform.kext etc.
But after this update I can run vanilla 9.3 and AppleACPIPlatform.kext 1.0.3 and shutdown and restart, before the system shut down but the machine was still pwered with fans running.

You're saying the QuickTime 7.5 update solved your shutdown-restart problems, is that right?

It seems that way, as I couldnt shut down properly last night, but after the update I can. Sounds contradicting to the common saying "Its safe to update, as it is "just" Quicktime"

But I havent messed with anything else. Actually the updater couldnt restart the machine either, but since I have installede it works.

Absolutely fine man! Just try it. I also tried the iLife 08 updates that too worked fine.

Does this then mean, you DO actually go to that "special school" as well!

The quicktime update works at my kalaway install, but after updating my iTunes stopped working...
The only thing it's doing is starting up, loading for a very long time and then I get an error about "the application shut down unexpectedly"
It also refers to an file called QuickTimeComponents.component, so I re-installed that file, but it didn't work..

Does anyone have an idea what it might be?

I have the same problem.
I'm runing Kalaway 10.5.2 install on an AMD 6000+ machine.
Till now everything worked just perfect, but after applying aviable updates (except 10.5.3 update), my iTunes broke as well as quicktime itself.
Is there a fix for it?
I really wouldn't want to install my system again as it is was running perfect till now.

Solved.
I updated my system to 10.5.3 through AMD updater utility following tutorial for amd machines that I found on the forums and fixed audio and nvidia kexts after the update.
Now, everything is as it should be. Even the system feels a bit faster, but that could be wrong perceprion on my side.
In any case, the system is stable and running all the apps it ran before the problem occured.

I´m having problems since I installed the 7.5 update. Playback is choppy. Downgraded to 7.4.5 (I think) with the pacifist, and went ok. Then, after reading posts on the apple support site, I removed every alien plugin from the /Library/QuickTime/, upgraded to 7.5 and stuck again on a retarded quicktime...
Like the thing isn´t hardware accelerated, guess what? frontrow and itunes are ok fullscreen with all their glory...
Any clues? Is it the kext for my ati GPU? what could be broken in this version???

The problem I have after updating, is DVD Player plays real DVD's fine, but when I mount an ISO it shuts itself down... also iMovie crashes if I have an ISO mounted also.

Installed Quicktime 7.5 update, and now my Kalyway 10.5.3 installation won't boot!!!

After installing kaly's 10.5.3 update i had to fix the nvinject by using this method:

I also installed Quicktime 7.5 before rebooting. Now it won't boot! The first 2 times I got a kernal panic, now when I start using -v it always stops saying "No network stack object."

Anyone know what the problem is? Was it Quicktime 7.5 or the NVinject fix? Please help if you can! Thanks.

In my case, after updated to QT 7.5 everything look normal. Everything ... except ProTools.
Playhead moves jerky and choppy.
The rare thing is that all my problems are related with ProTools. Only in ProTools slow and continuous mouse movements are translated as jerky cursor movements in screen.
Don't know how to resolve this conflic.
How did you downgraded to 7.4.5 with the pacifist?

I followed the steps described there and everything return to normal in my hackintosh.

well, today went out the 7.5.5 update. Itunes and such is cool. but same choppy playback on quicktime. I´m giving up. Gotta rethink the whole thing over...

I also have the choppy playback problem since QT 7.5 and also with 7.5.5. I found on Apple Support Fora the hint to exchange /System/Library/Frameworks/QTKit.framework with the one from QT 7.4.5 (I used Pacifist to do that) and now Video Playback is fine and I'm able to use latest FCP at the same time.
