I can't seem to get my wireless working. Same goes for my Line in, Line out, and Sleep (but then again, those are more common issues). I'm not even sure where to look for my device ID, even after searching around the forums, so I chose not to edit my kext manually (used the univsersal patcher instead). Probably didn't see how I could find it. I don't have any other OS installed on this laptop, and I certainly would like to avoid reinstalling everything again.

I installed the latest Airport and Time Machine Update from Software Update (Vanilla Kernel, so I'm fine), plus the bcm43xx patch. No go. Even before installing the Airport update, it would still say "No Airport Card Detected". My BIOS doesn't have a setting for the built-in Wi-Fi, so I have no idea how to fix this. The Wi-Fi LED on the laptop is Orange at the moment. No idea how to make it blue, if I have to do that. Would booting into another OS help me? I have no idea what to do now, and I really need the Wireless to work, at least.

That's the thing.. I don't have it dual-booted. I overwrote my XP partition with this. Would it be possible to use a Linux LiveCD or something (Ubuntu?) and see the wireless card device ID from there? If so, how would I do that?

Or better yet, does an XP Live CD ISO exist? And when I get into XP, how do I check my device ID? Sorry, I'm new at all of this...

yes, load Ubuntu LiveCD and open up Terminal and type there

you should see a list of pci cards, look there for a wifi card

I have the exact same laptop you have. I've pretty much managed to get everything going except for Wifi. To get sound going, I used the Azalia Out driver included in the Kalyway 10.5.1 install disk. You'll get sound from the laptop speakers but you won't have any outputs in the earphone jack nor any microphone inputs. The X3100 was fully enabled via the Leopard Graphics Update (installed Kalyway Combo 10.5.2 Updater and Kalyway Kernels.mpkg before that). One other thing I've noticed is that it seems that if you install the Time Machine and Airport Update (vanilla kernel, of course), the cooling fan will be functioning properly. Prior to that update, the cooling fan on my notebook will just kick in when the temp gets too hot. Now, it stays at a stable 58-63 degrees C. This is about the same temp range I get when I have my notebook set to High Performance under Vista. Btw, Windows identifies the Wifi card as AR5007. If you check the card itself, it says it's model is ar5bxb63. I don't think anyone's been able to get that particular wifi card to work in OSX86.

I bet its not the card, but the mini pci e port. Many presario Cxxx series users have been pretty f'ed up with the wireless thing (me included)

Sorry to say, but I think ur stuck there. Use a usb wifi card.

NO NEED for that, NO LIVE CD or lspci, just run DPCI Manage on Mac OS, avoid all that.

Ahh snap.. This sucks. I was hoping to get the Wi-Fi working.

Anyway, my sound is perfectly fine already out of the box, save for the Mic/Headphone ports. Haven't tried sleep yet, but everything other than that and wireless works now.
