Hi
I am thinking of getting a new keyboard and I was wondering whether the Apple keyboard: http://www.apple.com/keyboard/ and the mighty mouse wireless: http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/ are compatible with Windows Vista?

Thanks
SticMAC™
Yes they are and there is more buttons to configure!
When I used to run Vista they worked fine!

Just to confirm Even on a PC? when running games would some buttons not function correctly because of the layout? Would I need a bluetooth USB adapter to run the wireless mouse? i would buy the wired keyboard
knyte2
If your machine doesn't already have bluetooth, yes, you would need an adapter for the mouse.

Hi
Again, thanks for the replies. I have been reading that many people are saying that you have to manually configure the wireless mouse every time you log into Vista. Is this true? Apple say that wireless mighty mouse is not compatible on a PC but a wired on is. What would you recommend I buy. I am going to go for a wired keyboard but not sure on mouse

Are any of these compatible with Windows and Mac OS X which will support Mighty Mouse?: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/0...amp;x=0&y=0.
syrian_gamer
omg if you are going to play games i would strongly urge you to just get a logitech or Microsoft mouse that is compatible with both. IMO the might mouse is far from mighty
amantheboy
yes both work even the apple keyboard shortcuts at the top with the bootcamp drivers.

How about Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0? Is it safe for hackintosh and windows

Hi
I just received my keyboard today and I think it is great. I have not installed any drivers but the keys at the top still work such as Dashboard and volume controls. However the brightness one does not work and the fast forward/rewind keys only work in Quicktime.

Should I install drivers for it? If so where do I get them?

I avoided getting the Mighty mouse because I have heard far to many problems with them for me to even consider buying one.

Thanks very much

I have a mighty mouse on my quad-boot set up, and to be honest, all of the problem's I've heard of are vastly exaggerated, and solved completely by a minor clean (Just rubbing with a cloth) every so often.
Berzerker
ANY bluetooth dongle will support the mightymouse, the only thing you should look for is one to support both OS X and windows.

For god sake! Just buy the friggin' keyboard and mouse!

I got one off ebay for $14 bucks. Worst keyboard I've ever used. Looks damn sexy on the desktop though. I keep my ugly Kinesis in the keyboard drawer, and leave Apple Al keyboard on the desktop for show... not even plugged in. tongue.gif

I guess it depends on people. I bought the alu keyboard and found it brilliant. I type just as fast if not faster, it's definitely more silent AND using the volume, eject buttons is a real pleasure. It also feels cleaner ( I eat a lot in front of my screen).
vaporATX
If you type 180 wpm you've had bad CTS in the past you'll never want to use anything but a Kinesis Maxim. Microsoft ergos aren't bad either, but they just don't have the same feel. The way Kinesis varies the spring tension of the keys from the inside to the outside of the keyboard is freakin' brilliant! Plus, you can strike a key anywhere on the face (even the edge) and get a clean stroke. God made this keyboard. tongue.gif

would i still need bootloader drivers for the wired kb and mighty mouse?

dude, there is no keyboard better than this shiny aluminium keyboard where i'm typing on right now!

Yep the update works fine, did it myself

I love the Apple Keyboard, but the Mighty Mouse is terrible if you're a big person with large hands. I can't stand to use them for more than an hour or so at a time. Logitech makes the best mice IMO. smile.gif

Yeah the might mouse doesn't live up to its name. i use a logitech wireless mouse and get horrible interferance so I plugged the receiver in the left port of the aluminum keyboard and it works great. I love the keyboard so very much.
knyte2
The aluminum keybd is good but not great. (looks really cool though) and I'd say to go with a MX revolution or other some such beast. They are MUCH better for extended use and gaming. Though I have been fighting with RF interference from the router with my mouse. YMMV.

Works fine for me, the only problem is I can't seem to disable/enable the num lock, so the numpad doesn't work
U.C.
@PM The clear key acts as NumLock under windows

I am stunned to find there are people out there who like typing on this keyboard. I mean, it looks pretty and there is in fairness a break in period but... even after that, the plastic of the keys feels unsettlingly thin to me. I need a good tactile feel and these keyboards feel like a learner toy keyboard for a little kid. I sound like some keyboard snob but I have typed on keyboards half the price that felt so much better to touch type on. This from a Mac fan boy.

I would recommend that anyone with a big workload should go along to a store that carries iMacs and try typing on one for yourself, preferably not one that is not fresh out of the box.

Does the keyboard work on any other computer even running windows?

Does for me, both XP & Vista (Although Vista needed a regular keyboard to install with the first time around)

I am not a huge fan of the new slim keyboards, I like the older white ones way better.

Hello.

I noticed that the aluminum keyboard doesn't operate F2 during boot to enter a PC BIOS.
I don't know if it would operate the more common DEL.
Otherwise both the keyboard and wired Mighty Mouse worked great on a PC running Vista and XP.

The Mighty Mouse is my favorite of the two. The aluminum keyboard is OK but my stupid fingers miss keys when touch typing.
I like the style and feel and the fact that it's easy to clean so I think it's a keeper.

Strong Fingers!
One of the many advantages of taking Typing Class before the age of computers!

For me I just shelled out NZ$80 for a mac aluminium keyboard, but I use it with my HP Tablet when it is docked (running openSuse) and I love this thing. Its quiet, and the large key surface really helps with my poor typing 8)

Sometimes very cold to the touch though, especially on frosty mornings and seams to attract dust more then the plastic MS keyboard it replaced. Maybe it jsut shows up more.
ultimeus
Does anyone use it with Xp 64 ?? I'm thinking buy one but I don't know if drivers exist for it.

Edit I find this http://smallcomputing.net/2008/09/16/how-t...ard-in-windows/
tomazzzi
Yes works great with XP64 here

I use bootcamp X64 drivers

I love this keyboard : it s small, beautifull & very great to use
ultimeus
Thanks tomazzzi , wich one do you have ? normal or bluetooth ?
Bomans
Same here, the aluminum keyboard works great on my hackintosh!!!(got the normal one, not the bluetooth)
