I'm having trouble with a "Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family" display adapter. When I boot into safe mode -x, I can see the desktop at native resolution. However, when I boot normally, it goes to a black screen with a mouse pointer. I know the system is running because I can press the power button and hit enter and the system will shut down; I just can't see anything but black. I'm running 10.4.11 XxX.

There have been posts for 900/915/950, but haven't run across anything specifically for the 945. Perhaps there is a way just for force vesa resolution without having to type it at boot every time?

There is no real GMA945 graphic card. Just look at the intel website to know it. I have the same card as yours. It's a GMA950 based upon a 945GM chipset. And GM is not rely on GMA. I can't remember its signification but if you want to know more, just search on the intel website. So if you want to have real chances to have your card work, search for GMA950 drivers.

I have Mac OS X 10.5.2 (kalyway version) and my graphic card work perfectly, with QE/CI and change resolution with drivers changed by Proud Bajan. You can PM him to know more only if you have a graphic card with 0x27** id. To know it, look into Windows (if you have it on your PC) and look at the system info app.

Would you mind posting the drivers you used? I'm on 10.52 kalyway also and the display is working, but I'm stuck on 1024x768 with no higher resolutions available in the list. My display is not stretched tho, it's just nice 4:3 in the left hand corner of my widescreen smile.gif

Would really appreciate to find/try those drivers that worked for you.

cheers,

For anyone with the GMA945 that is having problems with QE/CI follow the instructions here:

Espionage724
There are different versions of the Intel 950 GMA also so some users will have no problem with QE/CI (like me smile.gif) while others will have issues.
