Hi

my Intel 82540EM just stops working randomly? pretty scary... can take a hour off usage or just a minute it doesn’t mater?

I have an Asus P5VD1-X mainboard, I have a full working Kalyway 10.5.2.

Please help me! It’s driving me nuts to restating my computer all the time!

PS: Love all the work you guys are doing!

I'm using 82540EM too, the network shows "Cable Unplugged" but I'm able to get ip and router address, but it drops connection sometimes, any help?

I had problems with my Intel Pro/1000 showing cable unplugged, I solved it by populating both 64-bit PCI slots with network cards. Not all cards did the trick, but once I found the right card it works flawlessly. In my case, I have a 64-bit PCI Intel Pro/1000 Server adapter in one slot and a 32-bit PCI Intel Pro/1000 Desktop adapter in the other. I didn't try any other types of PCI cards(SCSI, firewire, etc), so I don't know if it has to be a network card. Weird but true.

I fixed the random lock up problem by setting the speed to 10base T instead, no hang up anymore!
