i had some sound problems (AD1988b) with my ASUS P5K-E WiFi/AP on Kalyways 10.5.2 at first.
I followed a TON of guides, edited .kext Files, plist stuff and so on and on....nothing really worked for me...
Friend of mine (Cheers H2!) claims to have "out-of-the-box" 2-chan. audio suppport with the exact same install AND hardware than i have...
if you dont, just like me, this might help you out.
Today, i finally found one guide for "Kalyway 10.5.1", where someone said "just add the AD1988b" driver option for install.... my "Kalyway 10.5.2" did not have this option while customizing the install, so i just extracted the driver from this 10.5.1 disk...
Now:
#1: delete your "AppleAzaliaAudio.kext" from /Systems/Library/Extentions/ (you might also want to delete the AppleHDA.kext, i did that before.. not sure if its necessary.)
#2: download and extract the attached ZIP "Azalia_ADI1988b.zip" Folder.
#3: copy the "AppleAzaliaAudio.kext" from this Archive to "Systems/Library/Extentions"
#4: open an terminal as root (sudo -s), enter your password, then enter:
"diskutil repairPermissions /Systems/Extentions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext"
#5: just reboot and see the magic happen!
yes, still just 2 channel support (backpanel), but its still better than nothing
& no, i did not try the mic, sry.
GO KALYWAY!
