#2068619 Modded AppleAHCIPort.kext for RAID SATA in laptops for Mavericks and/or Yosemite

Posted by jimmyco2008 on 12 October 2014 - 05:01 AM

Hey all, First, I don't actually have the kext working for Mavericks or Yosemite. This is a thread, for those who are dedicated, to try and create such a kext so that you can install Mavericks/Yosemite on your computer with SATA mode locked to RAID (as opposed to AHCI or IDE) because your BIOS/EFI is extremely limited. Here's a link to the AppleAHCIPort.kext for Mountain Lion: http://www.insanelym...tkext-for-raid/ eep357 is "retired", so I'm stuck going through our past message from years ago trying to figure out just what he did to the original AppleAHCIPort.kext to get it to recognize my HP m6-1045dx's hard drive (in RAID SATA mode of course, for some reason).  Here's what I know: My laptop had an Intel HM77 chipset. I gave him (eep357) the device ID that was showing up when I booted Linux on the laptop and ran lspci. It was 282a (the Intel SATA/RAID controller). He made two versions of the kext for me (https://dl.dropbox.c...ed folder...

Honestly man, that's a mess. All Intel-based laptops today use Intel HD graphics, or can from dedicated graphics. You have an ATI Mobility Radeon setup, which I'd Google along with "hackintosh", but I wouldn't hold my breath for something that old and foreign to Macs. Like if a real Mac used that, you'd have a fighting chance of getting it working... Sound is AMD-based, so I'm not expert but I haven't heard of that specifically working.... You might try VoodooHDA.kext, that's a pretty universal kext. As for Ethernet, most setups are Realtek, again, give it a Google with "hackintosh", but I'm not sure on support... And WiFi... Google Google Google! The whole post should be Googled! But the AR5B195 is a known compatible WiFi N/Bluetooth (3.0) card for hackintoshes, it's about $10 on eBay and is half-height PCIe, your laptop may be full-height PCIe... Frankly... It's far from the ideal hackintosh laptop, you...

Yeah follow the m6-1045dx guide on this site for the installation part, post installation ehhh might not work for your laptop, but they're close enough for the primary install. [GUIDE] HP Pavilion m6-1045dx (Mountain Lion) Specifically, I'd try booting with -v and cpus=1 and as for the "still waiting on root device" thing, make sure your USB drive installer is plugged in to a USB 2.0 port, it won't work on the 3.0 SuperSpeed ports. If, when you get to the install screen your hard drive doesn't show up, even in disk utility, then you need the AppleAHCIport.kext from the m6-1045dx guide. Install it into the S/L/E of your USB installer. EDIT: Make sure you use Kext Wizard!

October 12th, 2014Updated links: Gatsby Kext Pack: http://goo.gl/oINTKU Gatsby Everything Else Pack: http://goo.gl/ZqvFHi  They aren't the same as the 12/09/12 guide+file pack below, but they should provide some much-needed kext files and such for those out there who still need them. Apologies for the broken link, I really try not to let that happen. I'm not sure how Google (goo.gl) lost the link, and I've been unable to find where the goo.gl link went to (Dropbox, MX, Drive? I don't know, I have too many accounts, I'm afraid). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     NEW: Download the updated (12.09.12) and easier guide and all the files you need here! April 13th, 2013 I don't have the m6-1045dx anymore, but I hear that the modified AppleAHCIPort.kext does not work with 10.8.3... Anyone care to elabora...

***See Second Post Below***  The latest! (01.14.13) I'm going to start scheduled updates to the guide/Gatsby Pack. If I fix something, or someone else fixes something, I'll update everything here on the following Friday. So like this Friday I'll update the Gatsby m6-1045dx pack for three-finger swipe actions, and I can probably add the BIOS update, in case HP's website goes down or whatever. Good News, Everyone (12.28.12) USB 3.0 ports work, at least with the latest BIOS update, but they only work with 3.0 devices. I was only recently able to test this. Furthermore, a lot of 2.0 devices work with the 3.0 ports, like wireless mouse dongles. Things that don't work include flash drives, iPhones, Android phones, pretty much anything that transfers files. Sound is now fully-functional (see the post in this thread about sound). Still on Tap (to fix) Intel Turbo/SpeedStep (I know it should be working, but I have a feeling it isn't) USB 2.0 functionality in the 3.0 p...
