I used this system for maybe two years without issues. The whole thing is on an eSATA hd, hybrid gpt/MBR format, 11 partitions, Chameleon on a separate partition along with the extra folder, OSX for everyday use, another OSX for emergency cases, Linux with separate home-partition and Windows 7 64 Bit. I wanted to install a new Linux, chose open suse 12.1 64 Bit and downloaded the dvd. I knew I would have to fix the fake MBR-partition table with gptsync afterwards to get windows back. After choosing several install options the installer reported that he was going to format the 2 linux partitions that he found as ext4, use one as root partition, the other one as home partition, use the existing swap partition and that he had detected a gpt hd, so he would install grub to the linux root partition and leave the MBR untouched. That sounded good for me, so I hit enter. Installation was finished, but after reboot I just saw a blinking cursor.
That made me think that the wrong partition might be marked as active. So I first fixed the faked MBR partition-table with gptsync and then marked the chameleon partition as active.
Again the blinking cursor after reboot.

Blinking cursor after reboot, then: "Error. No operating system found."
Maybe i should have unplugged the internal hd before reinstalling linux? Too late. (OSX on the internal hd still boots, so does windows 7 via chameleon if I choose to boot from the internal hd.)
There might be just one or two bits in the wrong place. Do I really have to reinstall everything from scratch?

Mein Desktop-Hackintosh (10.6.8) spinnt nach einem Jahr problemlosen Betriebs total.
Ich habe den Eindruck, dass der Ärger losgeht, wenn ich Java-basierte Programme starte, z.B. Vuze oder JDownloader. Das Programm bleibt hÄngen. Dann legt spotlight los, indexiert die Platte und irgendwann friert der Rechner ein. So hat es angefangen. Kein Problem, dachte ich, wozu habe ich ein zweites System auf einer anderen Partition installiert. Also starte ich von dieser Partition, aber gleich fÄngt spotlight wieder an zu indexieren. DiskWarrior, die aktuelle Version, lÄsst sich auf einmal nicht mehr starten. Das Festplattenhilfsprogramm ging noch, fand und behob einige Probleme auf der anderen Partition. Danach bootete ich von der Standardpartition, es klappte, reparierte die Reservepartition mit DiskWarrior, bootete von der Reserverpartition, DiskWarrior ging wieder, reparierte die Standardpartition und der Drops schien gelutscht. (Die Zugriffsrechte habe ich natürlich auch ein paar mal reparieren lassen und ausserdem ausserdem das aktuelle Java-update und Sicherheitsupdate installiert.)
Bis ich heute von der Standardpartition gebootet und JDownloader gestartet habe. Danach ging das Theater wieder von vorne los.
Ich weiss, dass man auf einen Virus unter OSX zuletzt tippen sollte. Merkwürdig ist nur, dass eine Partition die andere anzustecken scheint. Vorhin habe ich von einer USB-Platte unter 10.7 gebootet und die zeigt jetzt die gleichen Symptome.
Ich hÄtte eigentlich angenommen, dass Viren oder Trojaner sich heutzutage unauffÄllig verhalten. Das hier sieht wie ein klassischer Kaputtmacher aus.
Ich fasse zusammen: nach jedem Neustart rödelt spotlight wie blöd als ob die Platte nicht gerade eben indexiert worden wÄre, ein System infiziert anscheinend das andere und DiskWarrior kann das Problem nicht lösen.
Smart Tools meldet keine Hardwareprobleme mit der Platte.

Kommt das jemandem bekannt vor? Ich sehe im Moment keine andere Lösung als die Systempartitionen zu löschen und alles neu zu installieren, würde mir das aber lieber ersparen.
