#1968638 OS X and Linux - Best filesystem for Linux?

Posted by rockinron_1 on 16 November 2013 - 03:10 PM

Use 3 paritions, 1 for OS X, one for Linux, one for Data. You can easily move your home directory for the OS you use the most to the Data partition and that can be a different file system (e.g. exfat).

#1923879 10.9 Mavericks Simple Vanilla Hackintosh Install Guide

Posted by rockinron_1 on 13 June 2013 - 11:38 PM

Honestly? the easiest way to install Mavericks or any other os x version is to use MyHack.I used it to install Lion, ML and now Mavericks and it works really well. I am not lazy, I'm just tired (AKA TOO OLD!) of fighting with issues each time I need to install OS X on my hack. BTW, I ditched TonyMac's boot tool in favour of the genuine Chameleon boot loader - it works better.People following this guide are not doing so because they want the easiest way to install OS X. They are doing so because they want to install it, understand how they installed it, and understand how to modify it to suit their hardware. If you wish to click a button and install OS X then by all means use MyHack or Tony or some other distro, but that is not what this guide is about.Simply: It isn't ment to be the easiest, it is ment to be the most complete.

Posted by rockinron_1 on 11 June 2013 - 05:46 PM

Hi there, Thanks for the guide. I have followed it all and boot the installer choose english setup language and then it comes up with a message saying that Mac OS X 10.9 can't be installed on this computer. Not sure what I am doing wrong, I only put the kexts in the package provided not sure if I am supposed to put the keyboard or sound one in as well. System specs are: Celeron G530 Foxconn H67M Asus G210 silent 1gb 4Gb Ram. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks. Celeron G530Cel You're using a SMBIOS from a mac model that won't be supported on Maverick. Try a SMBIOS from a new model (use chameleon wizard to generate one)

Hmmm From my understanding the UseATiROM option automatically detects the card and loads the default framebuffer. Of course it's possible I'm wrong but it has always worked for me. Try it and see :thumbsup_anim:

hando: Double check you have instaled FakeSMC correctly (do step 3.B again). Then as iFire says boot with only -v If that doesn't work try booting with -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes In both cases post a screenshot if it fails to boot

Sounds like something is wrong at Step 2.C.1. You should be copying NullCPUPowerManagement.kext and FakeSMC.kext to /System/Library/Extensions in this step. It appears that you haven't copied NullCPUPowerManagement. Check those files are in that folder and boot with -v -f and show us a screenshot where it stops. Although I would note I haven't attempted to install OS X in a virtual machine therefore I'm not sure what smbios you should be using...

Verify you've got fakesmc.kext in /system/library/extensions on your install USB. If you have use the link provided in the guide to download and install the latest version (if not it should be there anyway so still do this). If that doesn't work try booting with -v -x -f npci=0x3000. Report back if it sill doesn't work there's a few bits we can try...

See the wiki for a list of known good laptops: http://wiki.osx86pro...x.php/Main_Page Intel HD graphics is unsupported by ML, you need at least hd3000 afaik. Ultimately you have no way of guaranteeing its going to work you can just make sure it has supported components and hope.

Tonymac tools are not supported here. Having said that try typing the following in the terminal "sudo touch /system/library/extensions"
