I had to make a separate thread so I can create a quick breakdown and progress of each hardware component on this laptop as I am running 10.8.
It's always a good idea to have a DVD of ML in a safe spot where you're able to grab it so it won't get scratched up potentially overtime. Some versions of ML are standalone and will require at least a bootloader to prepare installation process. If you legally own a version of ML that's scratched up, there are several things you can do to ensure you do have a working copy. Scratch remover? Good luck with that.
First thing's first when you're preparing the installer. Even if you have to pull an ISO off of your ML dvd and modify it that way to burn to a DVD-RW, do it. On the other hand, assuming you have the ML installer on a USB (which I strongly recommend), you can go into it using MacDrive (Windows) and access that way. There are suspicious kexts on the installer, and if's it's not deleted, the installer will keep repeating the phrase "Still waiting for root device".
>> Delete all kexts in S/L/E related to Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers! (AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelSNB*)
>> Delete the folder "com.apple.kext.caches" in S/L/Caches/ just to be safe.
Once your ML USB installer is ready to go, you should be able to go through Disk Utility if necessary and prepare your HDD for installation and what-not. Most distros do have a bootloader installer at the OSX installation screen, but the one I had seemed to be a clean no-distro version with just "essential system software". No kexts, patches, fixes, bootloaders, none of that the way it would be in a distro.
Post-installation, working components:
WLAN: USB - Belkin Basic Wireless Adapter F7D1101v1
Search and Install "WL_349v3_352v3_353_356___Driver_1075_UI_1.7.8" Use "Wireless Network Utility" app to manage connections since it seems impossible to put a wi-fi status icon on the menu bar.
Mouse: USB - PS/2 (Cherry Gentix JM-0300) (v. 192F, p. 0416)
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 (not using GraphicsEnabler flag)
Keyboard, OOB
Trackpad (Synaptics), OOB
Post-installation, failed/pending components:
WLAN: Built in - Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC (v. 10EC, d. 8176)
Sound: High Definition Audio Device (v. 10EC, d. 0269)
Battery (d. 0C0A)
Card Reader
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So far, the only boot flag I been using is the "Graphics Mode" after I can't find any plists in the Chameleon bootloader I had at the time. Hopefully, I should be able to play around with my 320GB drive safely this time. I do not know what hardware (failed or working) that any DSDT fixes will apply toward, so I chose not to use DSDT ust to be safe.

I had to make a separate thread so I can create a quick breakdown and progress of each hardware component on this laptop as I am running 10.7.5. I already obtained a copy of Lion.
Download: (search on Google/TPB.se, without quotes) "Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion bootable USB for Intel PCs"
Before booting from USB:
>> Delete all kexts in S/L/E related to Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers. (AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelSNB*) This likely prevents booting into the 10.7.5 installer from USB. I encountered this problem before.
>> Delete kernelcache (System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup) if problems booting into the Lion installer continue to persist.
Component status after post-installation:
WLAN: USB - Belkin Basic Wireless Adapter F7D1101v1
Works after installing "WL_349v3_352v3_353_356___Driver_1075_UI_1.7.8" -- Substitute for on-board WLAN that does not work at all. Use Wireless Network Utility to ensure connections.
WLAN: Built in - Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC (v. 10EC, d. 8176)
FAIL
Sound: High Definition Audio Device (v. 10EC, d. 0269)
FAIL -- VoodooHDA and AppleHDA kexts don't seen to even tap into the speakers.
Mouse: Trackpad - Synaptics Touchpad (????, d. 0310)
FAIL -- I need kexts for this, can anyone plz help?!!!
Mouse: USB - PS/2 (Cherry Gentix JM-0300) (v. 192F, p. 0416)
Works, even without suspicious PS/2 kexts - the scroll wheel is reversed where down-gesture scrolls up and up-gesture scrolls down, but I can live with that.
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000
Works, but more stable only without most video kexts
Keyboard
Works after installing "SL_PS2_Voodoo" driver
Battery (d. 0C0A)
FAIL - I need a VoodooBattery kext specifically for 10.7.5 since I keep finding ML kexts... =/

Toshiba Satellite C875-S7304 not wanting to install 10.7.5 Lion
17 January 2013 - 05:42 AM
I obtained a copy of Lion that starts off as a Clover bootloader (not Chameleon). I wrote the image to USB and boot from it. Now every time it boots up, it never brings up the Apple logo and everything hangs. It's gotta be possible to get Lion on here, but I'm lost. If the page doesn't expire, I just bought this notebook last week.

My specs are exactly the same as the ones advertised. I look forward to a fast response anytime soon. =/

eMachines W3502 / Intel D101GGC MB
06 October 2012 - 09:07 PM
I had this PC for 5 years, and these were the specs out of the box:
CPU: 3200 MHz Intel Celeron D
HDD1: 80GB Western Digital UATA
RAM1: 512MB Samsung DDR
GPU: 128MB ATi Radeon X200
MB: Intel D101GGC
Today, I pitched in enough for upgrades, and this is what I got now:
CPU: Same
HDD1: 320GB Hitachi HDT725032VLA360 SATA
HDD2: 750GB Seagate ST9750422AS SATA (this used to be part of an external GoFlex drive until I broke apart the USB interface/outer shell and reveal the HDD itself)
RAM1: Same
RAM2: 1024MB "MemoryPower" DDR (I guess this is one of those aftermarket chips)
GPU: 256MB BFG nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS (overriding the on-board ATi)
MB: Same
PCI2: IOFlex 5-port USB controller
Based upon everything that was stock before, OSX installer would start up, however, it would not allow me to use the mouse or keyboard. I would even keep trying "USBBusFix" kernel flag and still no result. Today I just bought and installed the IOFlex USB controller today, and that was when I was able to use the mouse! The on-board USB ports continued to display "Unable to initialize UIM" messages on all of its outlets, however, this didn't seem to happen much with the USB outlets on my PCI card, so that is the only way to get something to work, at least the mouse.
So far, I have not yet installed OSX nor tested any other components/hardware on the MB. I can tell you right off the bat that on-board USB will not work. More to come later.

A 200MB "EFI System Partition" stuck on your USB drive and can't get it off...
13 June 2012 - 02:51 AM
Okay, earlier, I was not so pleased with formatting a USB flash drive in an attempt to get an OSX installation going, I should've restored with a DVD image and that was when I screwed up. Now I can't use it in Windows XP/Vista/7/8 because not only it did not appear in Computer, but it also contains a senseless 200 MB partition.
#1 - On windows, open Command Prompt (cmd).
#2 - Type "diskpart", press Enter.
#3 - Type "list disk", press Enter - and it will tell you which drives are which, including USB flash drives. Since I only had a hard drive and one 16GB flash image, that gave me the idea as to which disk I will take into consideration. My hard disk was 0 and my USB drive was 1.
#4 - Type "select disk X" where "X" is the location of your troubled USB drive. Press Enter.
#5 - Type "clean" and then further down the line, you will see something weird a few lines down...
And so, you get an "access denied" error and another window should pop up saying that the drive needs to be formatted.
#6 - Close both the CMD and the Format Disk windows, hold down "Windows Key + R" to bring up a short Run window, and enter "diskmgmt.msc". Press Enter to run this command and make sure you are logged into Windows as Administrator while using Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate packages. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE HOME PREMIUM/BASIC!
#7 - In Disk Management, your flash drive should appear in a complete black bar and all "EFI System Partitions" should be wiped out after you just got through using DISKPART. Right-click anywhere within the black bar, click New Volume, and follow the instructions that gives you.
#8 - Lay back because it could take a while depending on how much storage your drive has.
Right now, I am still trying this and so far, this method has solved most of my formatting and flash drive usage problems. Will it do the same for your flash drives?! Good luck, everyone, and make sure you are observing the OSx86 revolution even if it kills you.
