In Topic: What does "Still waiting for root device" mean and how to fix it?

Most kexts in the installation DVD you had may also be the reason you still wait for that root device. Have you tried deleting kexts first before hand?! I deleted all kexts related to Intel HD Graphics x000 drivers and installation worked fine after that.

Does SSD breakdowns depend on the manufacturers who built it from the beginning?! Or am I not reading this right?! If SSD breakdowns do become a major factor in overall retail, I would want to see more reasonable prices as I believe these is too high. Perhaps the future will explain that SSD technology can wipe out the spinning HDD's the same way compact discs wiped out audio cassettes, but I do not know how this type of game will be played.

I had to take another break from further OSX experiment when I had to take a vacation and help out my mother coming out of her post-surgery. I haven't bothered with the sound much the whole time, but I did buy+install an Intel 180GB solid state drive. I was seeking to experiment installing iATKOS ML2 on this SSD of mine, but I can't any program that will properly extract iATKOS to my USB. Transmac and SUSE ImageStudio doesn't work in that case. Furthermore, I have no Blu-ray R/RW's nor any burners to extract iATKOS that way either. I'm pretty much stuck. So far the only way seems to be running Disk Utility in OSX (still needs to be installed first) and then restoring the USB with iATKOS that way. I still have research on my part, but let me know if you found anymore breakthroughs. I appreciate your contribution and input.

Okay, these model laptops have most stock specs including a 500GB Hitachi drive and 4GB of DDR3 which are both easily moddable and replaceable. Have you modded/upgraded anything since you bought yours?! One thing I will tell you is that if you have a Hitachi drive, you will want to read some reviews about it. Even the 500GB one that came with my laptop was potentially slow. I know the stock specs alone will be suitable for a decent boot into ML. I will run a check on your battery kext and get back to this topic later. Thank you for your input.

Of course, the components I listed under the failed/pending category are the ones I need working kexts for. If you found working kexts for any of them (currrently battery, sound, and sleep), please I/M me right away.
