CoBrA,

I have been in another forum with the same process.  I am looking to use my old T61 to be a DUAL BOOT OSX/Windows 7.

I have installed a SSD (120GB) and currently have Windows 7 installed and working like a champ with the upgraded Wirelss N card (from Lenovo) and the Middleton BIOS - I get WiFi N at 300Mbps.

Now I want to get the LION installed and working.  I was informed that I need to have Windows 7 installed before I do LION.  What say you?

Here is what  I am curious about:

I have found the following differences:

Apple Atheros AR5008 AR5418 AR5BXB72 603-9432-A

Brand: Atheros
Model: AR5BXB72 / AR5008
P/N: 603-9432-A / 607-0368-A / A1181
BIOS: Apple Ver (Use only in Apple Laptop)
Wireless Type: 802.11n (XSPAN 300MB)
Connectors: 3

==================================
Apple MacBook Pro A1150 Wifi Wireless Card 603-8214-A

Brand: Atheros
Model: AR5424a / AR5006EXS / AR5BXB6
P/N: 603-8214-A / A1150 / A1181
BIOS: Apple Ver (Fit all laptop brands: DELL, IBM, HP - upgraded BIOS)
Wireless Type: 802.11 Super A/G (108MB)
Connectors: 2
----------------------------------------------
My question is, will the 802.11n card (even though it says APPLE ONLY) work in the T-61. I would prefer to make use of the
Apple Atheros AR5008 AR5418 AR5BXB72 603-9432-A 3-connectors (the one in Blue) in the T61 to get full wireless speed.

Thanks,
*BH*
Hi there,

Thanks for your question and comments.  For the wireless card, I bought the Apple AR5BXB72.  This card has 3 cable spots, so it worked perfectly with my T61 (since I have the three connectors as well).  If you have the Middleton BIOS, the "Apple-only" card WILL work fine in the T61.

For reference, my card looks like this one: http://www.ebay.com/...=item19d87940f2

As for installing Windows, I don't think it should really matter which you install first.  With that said, I did install Windows first, and then installed Lion afterward.

Thank you CoBrA2168,

AFAIK, the monitor is natively 1280x800, the DSDT I am using is from this topic:
http://www.insanelym...-and-xps-m1730/

It's the one named : DSDT_M1330_NVIDIA_ANYCPU_20111029.zip

This does not have Nvidia injection thus I thought I could use it.

Do you have any ide how to inject EDID or how to edit DSDT accordingly?
You may need to follow the EDID inject from this guide:
http://www.insanelym...splay-problems/

However, I wouldn't know why you can't get the correct resolution.  I suggest installing again with the stock x3100 kexts.  All you need to replace from the pack you linked to in the first post is the one labeled "FrameBuffer"

ANOTHER UPDATE:

For over one week now I have been running the video kexts contained in "Set X3100 LION.zipz" (mentioned above) and have not had a single Kernel Panic yet.  However, several times I did have the machine's screen simply freeze on me when under high load, however the mouse appeared to still be operational (since when moving the Magic Trackpad around I could see the bluetooth "activity" light flashing, corresponding to my movements of the trackpad).

At this point the machine is almost completely stable on 10.7.2, except for this above mentioned issue.
qwerty99,

Did you find a solution to your video problems?  I have a Lenovo T61 with x3100 graphics, and have recently been experiencing random KPs tracing back to the gmax3100fb.kext.  I have tried a multitude of different kext packs, with no luck.

Interestingly, I never experienced these issues when I had a 1280x800 screen.  Now that I'm using a higher resolution screen (1440x900), I get these KPs every day.

Ok I've got one step further, now I am running 10.7.5 on this machine.

It still boots normally, still wrong resolution, but this time, when I switch to 32 bit mode, the displays goes to sleep after boot, just before I see the desktop.

I am now using these kexts:

Any ideas?
What resolution is your monitor?  You might need a special DSDT edit or EDID inject.

Ok, I did as you said, and it gives some errors. I have attached the image below. It will not let me save unless they are fixed? because if I go to IASL, and try to click Save AML, it is grayed out, and won't let me.
Try going to 8608 and removing the leading asterisk.

By the way, do you have Skype?  I could help you quicker that way.
