Dell GX280 SFF with Intel GMA 900

18 July 2012 - 08:16 PM

I have installed 10.6.3 on a Dell GX280 successfully with iAtkos S3 v2. Everything works very well, except quartz extreme on the intel GMA 900 internal graphics. I can't play movies or use iMovie. I know this computer's graphics are good enough to play movies, because I have no issues when Linux or windows are installed.

The iAtkos install put intel 950 and 3100 kexts in System>Library>Extensions. I replaced these with the intel 915 kexts and bundles, but saw no change. I can't change resolution, but I did add the graphics mode in com.apple.Boot.plist to 1280 resolution, and that did work.

I tried to modify the intel 915 kext as outlined here:

But it didn't work. So I then tried this:

But that didn't work either. It booted to a black screen with some horizontal colored lines. I entered the elliott kext by itself and the system booted up okay but no QE support. When I changed the framebuffer by itself, I got the black screen and horizontal lines, so the framebuffer was causing the graphics not loading.

I would really appreciate any help getting this graphics issue fixed. It is the only thing that is keeping this from being a solid little computer.
