5.1 sound on ALC888S

28 March 2014 - 11:42 AM

I'm using a modified AppleHDA.kext which makes the 2.1 sound and Mic work but I got new 5.1 speakers and I can't get them to work. There split up to 3 different outputs in the Sound preferences. I've tried joining them together as seen on some YouTube tutorials but it still only plays through far left and far right, left and right or bass and center.

I can't get them all to work at the same time. Any ideas?

i've seen this post: http://www.insanelym...applehda-audio/ but I don't understand what to do..

Input audio not working (Mic) - ALC888S

30 October 2013 - 08:41 AM

Hey,

I've got everything working on my Mavericks install but the input audio (output works just fine) but it worked fine in Mountain Lion.

I had to install this kext (http://www.insanelym...p2-2/?p=1931876) though to get output sound in Mavericks, now to just get input to work.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I use it heaps as I route my Xbox sound into my PC through to my PC speakers using LineIn.

Ethernet and audio not working? Tried EthernetBuiltIn already

29 October 2013 - 09:46 AM

Ethernet is not working, either is audio. Though I believe the Realtek ALC AppleHDA Audio kext will fix that -just figuring out how to find which ALC I have.

With the Ethernet though (most important) I've tried adding Yes to EthernetBuiltIn but that didn't work, Ethernet worked out of the box on Mountain Lion with EthernetBuiltIn as yes in the org.Chameleon.Boot.plist - what could be the problem?

Looking at an old DxDiag.txt I have, it seems I have Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

As for audio, in the DxDiag.txt it just appears as High Definition Audio Controller.

Edit -

Found a working AppleHDA for my ALC888 in this thread: http://www.insanelym...-alc-888-dp2-2/

Now to just fix the Ethernet..

OS X could not be installed on this computer

28 October 2013 - 06:29 AM

I used myHack and put Mavericks on it, booted to the USB and deleted my existing HDD data to setup new partitions on GUID (was on mbr) but upon attempting to install Mavericks I get this error: OS X could not be installed on your computer. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.

I'm using the correct SMBios and DSDT, I had a Mountain Lion 10.8.0 installer on my USB using myHack and that worked for me in the past but I removed that to put Mavericks on it. I got another USB and downloaded Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and tried to installed that, same error occured.

I've been at this for days and I have no idea what's causing it - any ideas?
