Chameleon selects wrong partition

28 October 2012 - 07:25 PM

Hi,
I've dual boot (win 7, ML) MBR partition using EasyBCD. When I select ML from the boot menu, then chameleon enoch 2070 takes command but it chooses wrong default boot partition. I have to select manually 'MacintoshHD (ML partition)' to boot. It's not a problem but quite annoying. Apart from MacintoshHD partition, I do have another HFS+ partition (named MacBackup). This is diskutil list output:

/dev/disk0
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: FDisk_partition_scheme *320.1 GB disk0
1: 0x27 15.0 GB disk0s1
2: Windows_NTFS SYSTEM RESERVED 106.9 MB disk0s2
3: Windows_NTFS eMachines 154.6 GB disk0s3
4: Windows_NTFS Backup 95.3 GB disk0s5
5: Apple_HFS MacBackup 12.1 GB disk0s6
6: Apple_HFS MacintoshHD 43.0 GB disk0s7

I did add following in org.chameleon.Boot.plist

<key>Default Partition</key>
<string>hd(0,6)</string>

However, it didn't help. I want chameleon to point MacintoshHD as a default NOT MacBackup.

Using HDMI cable to connect to TV

03 September 2012 - 09:59 PM

Hi,
My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD5470. I get resolution of 1366 x 768 after Internal LCD forced EDID. I've a Samsung TV to which I want to connect using HDMI cable. I do it without any problem in Win 7, however, could not do it using Mountain Lion 10.8.1

Has anybody succeed doing it? Let us share.

p.s. I used a EDID extractor software to extract EDID in Win 7 while TV connected through HDMI cable and I can see it extracted a separate EDID for my Samsung TV. So, like Windows, can we have multiple EDID for multiple device or TV in this case?

(Solved )Elantech ps2 trackpad works using Chimera but not using Chameleon

02 September 2012 - 09:48 AM

I've an Elantech ps2 trackpad in my laptop(see signature below). It was working fine while using Lion. Now, It works only when I boot using Chimera v.1.11 but not using even the latest chameleon(enoch 2050). This is very strange as I was using Chameleon with Lion and there was no problem. I have added these strings attached to identify the device  ID (this was done too in Lion and it worked).
<string>ApplePS2MouseDevice</string>
   <key>ProductID</key>
   <string>PNP0F13</string>
   <key>VendorID</key>
   <integer>1452</integer

However, trackpad wont work despite this. but I dont need these strings at all when I use Chimera. Chimera seems to identify my trackpad as if some sort of code is hardcoded in it. Can anybody explain why?

UPDATE:Found two kexts which helped trackpad working in Chameleon. http://www.osx86.net...do=file&id=3191

strange problem during boot using Chameleon & Chimera

30 August 2012 - 10:28 AM

I installed Mountain Lion using Uni-beast. I made a bootable USB using Chimera 1.11 (put the Extra folder from Uni-beast USB to this Chimera boot USB). Now, I have to boot in -v mode otherwise I get kernel panic! and, the system identifies my graphics card as ATI Mobility Radeon HD5400 series 5 rather than identifying it exactly as 5470.

Now, I made another bootable USB using latest Chameleon 2050(enoch-rev2050). I used the same Extra folder which I got while installing Mountain Lion using Uni-beast. It boots fast and I can boot without -v option and it identifies my graphics card exactly! But, my Elantech ps/2 trackpad does not work (keyboard works)!!!

I guess it is due to the different boot loader but is there any way through which I could solve above problems. My system specs are in signature.

I am still booting using USB drive as my system is still in test phase.
