Will this mobo work?

04 January 2007 - 02:47 PM

Since I can't find any mention of it in the Wiki I thought I'll try here.

My mobo is ASUS P5NSLI (nForce chipset) and so far I haven't been able to get it working (on install it just keeps rebooting) so I'd like to know if someone has got it working. Anyone?

At the moment I'm downloading the new JaS 10.4.8 version released yesterday and then I'll try that out.

Oh boy...

Install Problem: 10.4.8

18 December 2006 - 07:51 AM

Hi you all,

I'm trying to install the JaS reseed 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 version.

I have a Core2 Duo on a NVidia motherboard containing nForce chip sets.

When installing I get the dreaded "Waiting for root device". I have the DVD drive and the HD on the same IDE cable (PATA).

The message before the "Waiting for root device" line is "Couldn't alloc class IOUSBUserClientInit". Is this some USB problem or is it the nForce chipset (it seems others have problem with such a chip set).

Any ideas?

ATA/IDE busses: There can be only one?

23 March 2006 - 09:03 PM

I have OS X 10.4.5 installed on my Intel system. In my computer I have two ATA/IDE busses and in the system profiler OS X sees both busses but only the devices on one of them, my CD-ROM drive which is on the other bus doesn't get detected. Can OS X only detect devices on one bus? Is there something I can do in order for it to detect devices on the other bus (other than putting the CD-ROM on the other bus)?

Strange thing about Preview

23 March 2006 - 05:32 PM

I have a weird and qutie annoying issue with the Preview app.

Say I open a picture in Preview. Then I select part of the picture and choose copy. I then choose File-New Copy from Clipboard. Now a new window appears with the thing I copied from the original image.

But, and this is the problem, the new image is not what I actually copied from the original one, but it's as if the part I selected from the original image has been shifted like 10 pixels to the left. I hope you get what I mean.

It this because I have no support for QE/CI?

X1600 Pro

14 March 2006 - 05:12 PM

Ok, so I just bought subject to replace my GeForce FX5900XT in order to get QE and CI supported (of course the side effects of better gaming performance on the Windows side are a bonus as well).

According to the HCL it works fine but I would like to hear some personal experiences with this card - so do tell. Will I be able to get higher refres rates with this new card, or will that still run in only 60 Hz (I think my eyes are becoming accustomed to the low refresh rate by now - in the beginning it felt as though my eyeballs were bleeding but now they're fine; I hope anyway  )?

Anyway tell me about OS X and X1600 Pro.
