Hi Folks, Not sure what is the most appropriate forum for this particular issue. All has been fine inthis regard for a number of years but in the past 3 weeks or so the mac sides of my multi-boot have been giving me this issue where I cannot shut any of the OS's down.. thought it might be DSDT related so replaced the dsdt with a copy of an earlier one I know for sure worked..
On the Windows side of things all is well and shuts down as you would expect.
Anyone run into this issue or can suggest where the issue might lie? Cmos settings perhaps... I have been having a cmos clock reset issue for several weeks also... replaced the battery this morning....
For the record I'm running
Disk 1: Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Disk 2: Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (base version for troubleshooting etc)
Disk 3: Snow Leo 10.6.8
Disk 4: Unmentionable 7 x64
Bootoader - Chimera
Thanks in advance

What is Speedstep and how do I patch it etc?
21 August 2012 - 08:37 PM
Forgive the ignorance but I have a Speedstep-enabled mobo and haven't got a clue what this means,,,I know it has something to do with optimizing cpu speeds for best performance but even on Winbox I never found a controller or gui or anything to tell me what the heck this was all about!
Have read something on various hack forums abous S states and always assumed they had to do with these new 'i' sandybridge processors so never gave it a second look,,,until just now I discovered not only do I have it but also enabled in bios.
What do I need to do to use it... is there a way to patch the dsdt or patch a kext???

Help Needed with NVidia (Desktop) Hack
02 August 2012 - 09:13 PM
Hi all...
Been starting my rigs since 10.6.3 with a combo of nvenabler.kext and GraphicsEnabler=Yes
Finally decided to take a look at a few hacks and in particular the Graphics hack as more often than not boot falls down on nvEnabler hanging up...
So,,,
I patched the DSDT with the DTGP method
Patched the PCI0 Device code with device info from IORegistryExplorer
compiled the DSDT (no errors, no warnings)
installed it...
removed the enablers mentioned
rebooted...
all well until the part where the load screen should appear,,,then...monitor going to sleep
blackout
bye bye
hard reboot...
tried rebooting then by putting back just GraphicsEnabler=Yes and got a KP based on a bunch of nv controller and kernel errors
put back the nvenabler and rebooted and thats where I'm at currently. My Samsung Mini has refused once again to provide me usb sync so I cannot post the screen just at the moment but ll do in due course.
Working on the Mountain Lion partition and booting to it directly for testing purposes so that the loader is looking at the Extra, dsdt and boot files I am working on...
NB please try and advise rather tnan apply a bunch of hacks and fixes as someone did here previously, almost had to fo a reformat on that occasion! I
Graphics card as specified in the (PCI0) Device code

iCloud and Facetime not working
02 August 2012 - 12:34 AM
Sorry if this sounds "all to familiar" but I've searched and searched and still no joy with either. There was a Lion topic of the same nature reported solved... On Mountain Lion however...
I am running Chimera 1.11.0
Have tried several serials for smbios.plist and rebooted and
my ethernet confic is (en0)
and there's this little beauty in org.chameleon.boot.plist
in spite of all this I still cannot log in to either or create a new account with iCloud even...
Should my smbios.plist config be reflected in the About this Mac/Overview pane??? as this pane is still showing generic info by the looks of it despite rebooting!
I have even changed the pass for my mac account but Facetime won't accept it!
Hope someone can help here...
UPDATE
Odd! I'm in on Facetime now after rebooting and waiting an hour or two but still no joy with iCloud. Getting Account Limit Reached messag

what kind of behaviour should I expect from sleepenabler.kext?
01 August 2012 - 04:59 AM
Hi all,
Managed to upgrade without too much trouble on my rig... but had to add in netkas's iopcifamily.kext to /Extra/Extensions/ on this occasion or I was getting freeze-ups 90% of the time at boot when the loader reaches [ pci configuration begin]. As I installed as an upgrade though I ran into heaps of permissions issues with every partition on my system...urrrgh!
Updated Logitech Mouse software as I am playong Deus EX HUman Revolution and Splinter Cell Conviction as well as my own wineskinned version of Myst IV Revelation (can't get native to run on non-Power PC enabled systems but wineskin works great =) )....however... Logitechs update seemingly added no support for games... can mouse over menus etc but cannot click on them. In game the mouse simply is not there at all. Loaded up my Microsoft notebook mouse and intellipoint 8.1 and games work fine!!! Ouch Logitech!
So to my question....
I have been trying since ho.6.3 to get sleep functionality on my hack with absolutely no success at all. Even had member help here trying to patch the dsdt with further optimisations which did not get the problem solved and ultimately led to a state where I couldn't boot anymore... had to go to a lot of hassle to rescue the system.. and left things the way they were as far as the DSDT goes. Have tried a number of sleep enabler.kexts since from different sources none of them have ever worked and I would have to reboot by the reset or bower button every time.
I just found one that actually seems to half work.... if I click sleep it puts the monitors to sleep but I can at least wake from this now by moving the mouse ....but..... is that it??? shouldn't the hard drive be sleeping also???? or maybe its just taking a while to go into sleep mode,,, What should I expect here?
As it stands it's pretty easy to sleep the monitors... have been doing that since SL using corners in expose...
Hope someone can advise.
PS . would also appreciate hearing from someone with a similar Graphics Card to my own in what I need to do to patch the DSDT to get the machine booting without nvenabler.kext I seem to always get messages relating to that particular kext when booting in verbose mode and occasionaly the voodoo... Still no luck getting DIgital to work with the Audigy 2 so have to work with the realtech and only get 2 channels with the kexts out there, still better than nothing with hear.app =(
