I used Aomei Partition assistant. When I had 2 GPU the only rendering benchmark that used them together was Luxmark.Screenshot 2017-08-31 17.22.24.png Here's my score: Both GPU's - 39,087 and Both GPU's and CPU - 41,922. and the GPU TACH lights were lit on both cards. So they do work, but just like Gig said: Apple doesn't support crossfire, thats a Windows setup we can only use two cards for some openCl apps with the openGl apps like uningine, cinebench and general gaming apps only one card is utilized.   It sucks, but its the apple way.     I wonder if Metal 2 and other like kind apps will be Photoshop, Illustrator friendly in the future or is CUDA going to continue to be Adobe's choice? Would be nice to know this. In any case this is a fast system. Would be faster if I had my M.2 SSD working. Have to wait until I get Windows 10 installed on my other SSD and install Aomei Partition Assistant.

Very nice setup, did you try dual link =1 in clover configurator graphics settings? So far so good. I had my programming friend (Chris) help me with installing that "dual link=1" in Clover and I don't know if it worked, but I unplugged my my DisplayPort from the third port (away from my HDMI port) on my GPU (closest to the CPU) and just plugged it in the second GPU (closest to my HDMI port) and... it worked. I was just about to return the second AMD card and now that it is working that is great. Again, so far so good. My scores haven't changed and are still at 40,000 and that's good. Now we have to work on my USB ports (as I only have 4 working and not all 8 of them). So we'll see what happens with that. So I'm encouraged that things are moving forward. I'll keep you posted to letting you know how things progress when we OC this machine. I'm going to go get my new delidder to delid my 7900X CPU here soon. Lastly, I just updated the BIOS to F6 (08-22-17) and it fixed t...

Well, got High Sierra working using this very setup: 1 x Gigabyte X299 AORUS Gaming 9 (rev. 1) 4 x (16GB) GSkill 64GB TridentZ 3600MHz RAM 1 x Intel i9-7900X CPU 2 x AMD Vega Frontier GPU's 1 x EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 PSU So now that I have this awesome setup, a few things I would like to know: 1) Only two (of the three) 28" 4K monitors work. When I called AMD's Tech Support staff, I was told to purchase (get this) their "approved" ACCELL - DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and 6' HDMI to DisplayPort cable to make the third monitor work. Well I did that and it still didn't work. Even when I called AMD their tech support is pretty much useless, they told me to Google stuff that they should know and they also told me that Apple is responsible for making the AMD drivers work. I'm really disappointed in their staff as they honestly don't care. Any thoughts to maybe getting these 3 x 28" 4K monitors to work side-by-side-by-side? 2) Only 4 USB ports are working. Not a big deal as I only use...

That's a really awesome computer! Wow!Amazing, Great work! Thanks I appreciate that, but had to take it apart and throughly test it on a wetbench. We'll see what happens after a few more weeks on it. Again, thanks for the big-ups! :)

TBH I have no preference for nvida or AMD just what works.. I'm mostly using the 10 cores for cinema 4d rendering. I havnt got in to GPU rendering too much so I don't need that much GPU horse power other than to power one 4K and one 1080p display which the 780ti seems to handle. If I move to GPU rendering I will look at whatever is the fastest option at the time. TBH I have no preference for noida or AMD just what works.. Cool! The SR 2 was the best. It was my dream. 2x overclocked xeons :)I had a 5690 on a UD3. Fried it haha. My cooling had a hiccup.I still miss that platform...I think you'll love the X299. So much power and promise of more with delidding etc. It's brought the fun of the overclocked hackintosh back for me. The peripherals like fast USB, sata, M.2 make a huge difference! And quite easy hacks.I can play and work at the same time :DThanks for your vid and your energy.LOL! That was one of the FIRST record breaking machines that I built as well: The Hackinbeast! Here's the link to that build right here: http://www.insanelym...he-hackinbeast/ I'm still using that SR-2 setup currently even after almost 5 years ago. The only drawback is that you can't upgrade past 10.9.5 and that's now become an issue as I spent over 2 years working on another project with someone else that has become it's own nightmare (The ULTRABEAST). Sure it's the fastest recorded system out there, but what goo...

#2482075 Vega Frontier Edition on High Sierra

Posted by PunkNugget on 20 August 2017 - 05:16 AM

A bunch of posts ago I mentioned freezes on the GPU requiring reboots or re-logins. Didn't happen on the fury or nano, but are bad on the vega.I found the solution! Some apps - eg google chrome and (my app) Archicad, you need to disable hardware acceleration.Good to know. It's too bad that my current setup is still jacked up. But that's okay I can always sell the parts on eBay. No big loss, except the time put into this... and MAN did I put in a LOT OF TIME!!! As long as a solution can happen that's fine with me. Thanks for letting me know about this when I start my build. By the way you too got the top of the line Gigabyte board. Nice board. I'm going to get this one myself as well.

OK thanks Gigamaxx!  (That's so helpful I wish I could like it twice) I have all three, thanks to your post I'll be prepared to try them all.   I bought Dual Frontier Edition.   I have both cards today but I'm waiting until Thursday for delivery of the PSU direct from Corsair (I had difficulty locating it for purchase).LOL! You got two of these? That's great, that's what I want to do. I love that people (like yourself) like to push limits like I do. That's amazing. Let me know how your build goes with using both of those cards together and how they perform. When you get a chance watch my latest video on my ULTRABEAST build:

#2482063 Success with High Sierra on i9-7900x X299 GA Aorus 9, Radeon Vega

A few reasons, My hacks with Gigabyte are always easier, the USB DAC on the Aorus 9 are outstanding and I like good music, and it has a USB header by the sata. My 360 rad blocks off the entire bottom of the mobo which means I couldn't connect the case USBs with the Asus. And finally the black goes better than white with my build :D There are a few cases on this site of guys running dual Vega with high Sierra...  http://www.insanelym...h-sierra/page-3 My design software likes high single core performance a lot of the time and then for rendering it uses all cores, so an overclocked i9 is perfect! When the 18 core comes out I'll sell the 10 core and get the big one :)I found my output with multi CPUs goes down because of their poor single core performance. I only render a couple of sessions a week. Yes this board is good for it, but any ATx board will be fine :)If you get a 7900, you need to allow for excellent cooling. water-cooled 360 rad is minimum. AIO 360 is ok. I h...

Well it looks like my motherboard came back and the day it came back, guess who contacted me? That's right, Andrew Kern. Really grateful that we had a chance to communicate and work things out. He also made some time to help me with my situation and although I'm still facing some issues with only being able to use 4 RAM slots and not all 16 of them, it's still up an running with all cores working and at least one Titan X GPU and works now. Got a recent Geekbench of 49,488. Not bad, still needs some fixing though... http://browser.geekb...kbench3/8408188  Couldn't have done this without Andrew's help. Thanks again Andrew! Hope you enjoy your gift. Also, thanks to you too Baldy, I really appreciate you too for making effort reaching out to me to want to help me, so again, thanks! I now have to possibly turn in the board back to Supermicro to have them look at the board again. Hopefully they can find out what the issue is. We'll see what happens when it comes back and fi...

They're referring to 4k sector size. http://www.insanelym...eady/?p=2377304 Had a good laugh .. Well, I didn't know, but glad you had fun at my lack of knowledge. Aside from that what do you think of the build?

Hi Everyone, it's been about 5 years since The HACKINBEAST (my prior hackintosh Dual CPU / Triple GPU PC build). Introducing The ULTRABEAST! It was a 2+ year project that was finally finished about 3 months ago. Unfortunately for whatever reason it has now stopped working. The initial install when Andrew Kern (RampageDev.com) and I used (El Capitan) worked fine. The only problem though was it would freeze every 2 to 3 hours and I'd have to retstart my system. It only happened when I used all 3 x 28" 4K monitors that are caused the freezing issue. When I ran one 28" 4K monitor it never froze, using El Captain, but when using 3 x 4K monitors together, it when the freezing issue happened every 2 to 3 hours. After several months of going back and forth figuring out what the issue was, Andrew felt it may be a possible memory leak in the 980 Ti GPU's. We had to wait for an Nvidia to supply an update. Andrew reached out me to let me know about the update (in April). We insta...
