Installing Bluetooth - Dell 370 - nowhere to be seen!

12 May 2010 - 01:31 PM

I've installed a dell 370 full height pci-e bluetooth card into my hp mini 311 but it doesn't show up in OS X or ubuntu. I'm running icelord's hacked firmware.

Is there anything for me to try or should I declare it DOA?

cleaning up http://code.google.com/p/hpmini311 - readmes, files, etc

20 April 2010 - 09:18 PM

I'm working on cleaning up the documentation on running OS X on the HP Mini 311. Most of the docs are on (or linked to) on http://code.google.com/p/hpmini311/

I have a number of questions which will help me clean up the content.

1) is there a concise guide to installing wifi in the 311?
2) what are the benefits of flashing the bios?
3) does the mac know the difference between an Ion and Ion LE video card?

I'm certain that I'll have more questions as I continue.

HP 311 & NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller

18 April 2010 - 07:28 PM

I'm trying to get my HP 311 to work with 10.6 - 10.6.3 using the NetbookBootMaker and NetbookInstaller.

Here are some suggested directions - http://docs.google.c...1...jN2Zt&hl=en

My result -

1) The SL installer doesn't recognize the trackpad and therefore requires the use of an external mouse. Otherwise it works fine.

2) After running the NBI, the screen resolution was stuck at 1024x768. (didn't use the correct driver??)

3) Running the 10.6.3 combo updater resulted in a flickering screen on reboot.

Do you have any advice on how to salvage the install? Any advice on how to perform the install successfully?

2nd attempt -

I found that step 8 in your process wasn't necessary - the machine booted to the new install without being directed toward it.

Steps 10-12 - Running NBI are what lowers the screen res.

Sleep doesn't work.

Didn't upgrade any further. I've tried it a few times and has always resulted in a flickering screen.

Using SuperDuper to back up OS X install

18 April 2010 - 06:40 PM

I'm trying to use SuperDuper to back up the OS X install on my internal drive (10.6.3 w/HF5) to an external USB hard drive.

If I try to boot directly to the backup drive I get a "boot0: error" message. It works fine if I use my emergency bootloader usb drive and then boot to my backup drive.

What software do I need to run so I can boot directly to my fresh backup?
