dual screen arrangement VGA/HDMI

24 February 2013 - 06:44 PM

Got an Asus 6450 and works OOB on 10.6.8 (except hdmi audio).
I use a monitor via VGA as my main display and a TV via hdmi for watching movies (thats why i bought the card mainly).
The problem is the TV detected as the main display and the monitor as seondary plus even if i switch off the TV it' still detected. That means i have no dock on the monitor so it is quite unusable. i tried to swap the arrangemenent but it doesn't affect the main/secondary issue regarding the dock. Unplugging the hdmi solves the situation but i really dont wanna go that route obiviously. Is there any option (like in Windows) i can configure and enable/disable my displays properly?
Or is it common with real macs also?
Is there any progress in Lion or ML since then (in case i consider upgrading but i really like SL).
Thanks for the input guys!

Has anyone experience with this card?
Especially VGA+HDMI combo under 10.6.8.

Drive does not wake up after sleep

19 April 2012 - 11:20 AM

there is an option called "put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" in the energy svaer pane of system preferences.
when it's checked then DVD drive does wake up but only when there is no disc insterted.
and the usual sleep function also works correctly (usb devidses, hard disk, dvd drive sleep then waking up etc) so i guess it is nothing to do with that.
when a disc inserted in the drive and not used for like 20 minutes then dvd drive entering sleep mode and can't wake even if i set sleep mode in the apple menu then pressing space to wake up.
this was the case same when i used a second hdd (i dropped since then because of a hdd failure so i can't test now).
so i unchecked this option. it is a workaround but this would be the last step to achieve a full "vanilla" snow leopard :star_sunglasses:
thanks for the input+!
