Installing on an HP dv7 3085dx

29 January 2013 - 12:32 AM

Hello all,

So i'm ready to be patient. I have spent some time failing to install osx on my dv7-3085dx. I have tried to research a guide for this particular laptop but can only find very limited information.

I want a reliable OSX system. I am typically a windows and linux user. I chose to install for certain apple software like Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro.

I am not too worried about which distro I want, obviously the newer the better, but which ever is the most reliable. It seems that Snow Leopard my be the distro I have to stick with.

Here are the Specs:

Microprocessor 1.60 GHz Intel Core i7-720QM Processor

Microprocessor Cache    6MB L2 Cache

Memory 6144MB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)

Memory Max 8192MB

Video Graphics Nvidia GeForce GT 230M ( NB10P GE) discrete 1024MB up to 2815MB total graphics memory

Video Memory ith 1024MB dedicated

Hard Drive 500GB (7200RPM)

Multimedia Drive LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support

Display 17.3” Diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900)

Fax/Modem High speed 56k modem

Network Card Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN

Wireless Connectivity   Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN

Sound Altec Lansing with SRS Premium Sound and Sub-Woofer
I've been able to get all three to install but with errors of course.

I would like to know what you guys think would be the best option for my laptop.

And if you have any material on it that would be great too! ;)
