In Topic: Enable TRIM on non-Apple SSD

08 November 2014 - 05:47 PM

I used Trim Enabler Utility on my very first installation, open the switch to ON ,reboot, rebuild kernelcache via terminal and reboot again and the Trim support worked.

I am using Chameleon and Kernel Flag kext-dev-mode=1

On 10.10.1 update though i forgot the Trim issue,so i did the installation but the system didin't hang on boot, don't know why.Worked like a charm.

The Trim of course was set to OFF and tried the same trick with Trim Enabler utility but with no success . Tried 3-4 times to reboot but nothing happened.

So i uses method 2--Reboot and everything went just fine.

What's the procedure i have to do every time before an update to ensure that nothing will go wrong ?

I mean, do i have to disable Trim ( don't know how...) update---Run method 2 again and rebuild kernel cache and reboot ?

Did you try To boot no dsdt ?

Delete dsdt and reboot.
Same error and this time it's not booting into system at all, No kernel panic but black screen ( graphics card I guess ) so it's vital in my occasion.
It's not Os X , it's not Chameleon 2399 or else the same error would have come up when I used it with Mavericks partition so it's something with the Yosemite SSD partition or a combination :(

It's ok ,annoying but I can live with it I suppose :(

Thanks Chris and every other mate for helping me.
Maybe it's random and chameleon update or something else make it disappear . Who knows
Thanks again

Did you see if the message is on relation of your dsdt

Unfortunately there is no FileNVRAM in Mavericks modules folder. I guess i have removed it because iMessages don't work anymore.

I press F12 and choose my Yosemite disk for booting. In the dual boot screen i stop the loading bar procedure andtried to boot this time with the new 2399 Chameleon (installed to yosemite partition) to Mavericks partition. No error message and of course normal booting as expected.

I don/t have a clue with the DSDT file mate, i am using this one from the very beginning and i think i use a dsdt generator for my Gigabyte to create it.Not sure for that.

It's in the extra zip folder i have uploaded earlier . Did you see anything strange there ? Don't know how to compile or fix it :(

P.S: Trim enabler app has anything to do with that ? Don't think so.

@iceage2609
if you're dual booting Mavericks with Yosemite, you need to remove FileNVRAM.dylib in Modules of your Mavericks install.

Yes I am dual booting Mavs and Yosemite!!

I can't remember if I have FileNVRAM.dylib installed anymore in module folders, but there is a strong possibility though.
I will check it out as soon as I get home.

Thanks

I see your Extra ; looks good .

I really dont know whats wrong .

I read through my search this to the very same error in an older OS X chameleon installation

Type to terminal: sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386

Then hit Enter, fix permissions and reboot.

Do you think that will help now because it's very old or my major concern is if it's gonna harm my partition or any of the installation -chameleon parameters.
