Hello,
My apology's if this is the wrong forum to be getting advice from.
Just a little background on my experience with hackintosh-ing. My knowledge isn't that great. My DSDT file was mostly fixed by a member of this forum. I know it fixes graphics and I do believe it does fix a couple of other things like speed stepping (which works fine).
My system (in my signature) runs OSX 10.8.3 with Chameleon 2.1 r2030. I use a DSDT to fix graphics.
To fix audio I use ##### to install Patched AppleHDA and non-DSDT HDAEnabler for ALC898.
What doesn't work at the moment is: AppStore doesn't show me updates to any apps - it times out when trying to get updates. Also the Messages app doesn't work. I get the well documented error regarding 'error processing registration'.
When I was updating to 10.8.3, I thought I might as well update to the latest version of Chameleon as I believe this fixes the errors I am getting as mentioned above.
In the past updating Chameleon has been simply installing the latest pkg. In this case I downloaded Chameleon 2.2 r2171 ( from post http://www.insanelym...40#entry1882896 ).
It installed fine ; however when upon reboot, I got a kernel panic. Luckily I was able to revert back to Chameleon 2.1.
I did a bit of reading on these forums - but to be honest I wasn't able to find any useful layman's information/guide/tutorial on exactly what the changes are in Chameleon 2.2.
I have read about a new folder 'modules' that is needed for 2.2, however again I couldn't find any information what this folder does, why its needed and what files you put in there - except files such as KernelPatcher.dylib and FileNVRAM.dylib. I do not know and could not find any information on what these files are for.
So - It would be greatly appreciated if someone could explain the changes in 2.2, what the modules folder is for and what these new .dylib files are for.
Also if someone could explain how I would go about updating my system (based on the information I have given about my setup) to Chameleon 2.2.
I have attached a copy of my Extra folder incase this can help.
Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks.

Chameleon 2.2 - How does it work?

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H - USB Problems + Time Machine
29 July 2012 - 05:24 PM
Hello, again.
I just wanted to run a couple of things by UD5H owners - with regards to USB.
As I have spent the last couple of days messing with the system, I have been changing things around, overclocking, trying to understand how the USB3 to 2 switching works etc etc. Anyway I got myself in a right load of trouble - USB was failing all over the place, Bluetooth dongle would continually disconnect, USB hard drives would disconnect - the only thing that did seem to stay connected was the USB receiver for my Logitech mouse.
Anyway after some searching I found a post on tonymacx86 about what settings the XHCI and EHCI should be set to, including the hand offs. The settings suggested were:
XHCI Mode: Auto
XHCI Handoff: Enabled
EHCI Handoff: Enabled
Does this sound right to you guys? I am testing now and so far so good, however I do anticpate it not being resolved.
I have been having Time Machine issues since moving to ML. When I upgraded to ML i also swaped my Time Machine disk for another empty hard drive that had been in a USB enclosure and attached to the computer, but not really used much. Time Machine would back up fine for a couple of times, then it would go on about not being able to create folders on the TM drive. Only way to resolve it would be force eject the hard drive and remount, but after a couple of backups it does the same thing again.
Any advice welcome. Thanks

UseKernelCache and -f flag
29 July 2012 - 12:15 PM
Hi,
Can someone answer me this quick question.
I have UseKernalCache=Yes in cham.plist to speed up the boot process.
I just had a lock up and had to hard-reset. On trying to reboot it KP, something about zfscompression kext I think, or something like that.
So I tried booting up with -x, same thing, then I tried -f and it booted (long winded version). Then when I rebooted without -f, it worked as normal.
So does this sound like a corrupt kernelcache? Does using -f force a rebuild of the kernel cache?
Answers appreciated. Thanks

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H + 9800GTX+
27 July 2012 - 04:27 PM
HI
I am trying to install Mountain Lion on a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H with a 9800GTX+ graphics card.
I have a ML usb stick I have created which works, but when it comes to OSX installation window, the screen goes into power saving mode and no video ports display anything , even the onboard.
I am going to guess this is because I need a DSDT for the 9800GTX to work.
How can I get a clean DSDT file and edit it for my graphics card?
Help appreciated.

Time Machine Errors - Is this a DSDT problem?
26 July 2012 - 02:20 AM
Hi
I installed Mountain Lion on my Hackintosh t'other day. Everything was going swimmingly until a string of Time Machine problems.
The problem is :
Time Machine will back up a few times and then spit out the following error messages:
After the error message is thrown up, the external disk has to be forcefully ejected. Once remounted, Time Machine will back up for a few times, then the error comes up again!.
A few people on Apple forums have said that setxattr failing is an indication of drive failure. Unfortunately, when I installed ML, I decided to swap the hard drive used for Time Machine to another drive, that has been connected to my computer but virtually unused, for about 18 months. When using the drive in the past I have never had any problems with it.
As far as how I am set up, I am using a DSDT, but It was compiled by someone else so I couldn't for the life of you tell me what is in there. I am using Chameleon R18xx I think it is.
Anyone have any ideas? Cheers
