Sleep issues

23 August 2014 - 10:06 PM

In mavericks sleep works as is should.  In yosemite beta 2 my computer randomly wakes itself up.  Is anybody else experiencing this?

Here is the output of pmset -g assertions  At 2:34pm the computer woke itself up.  Any idea what MAGICWAKE is about?  At 11:18AM I woke the computer up myself by pressing a key on the keyboard.

Can't install - black screen

19 August 2014 - 06:50 PM

I'm trying to install the public beta of yosemite on my system that is in my signature.  I have clover 2820 which works fine with mavericks.  I downloaded the installer for yosemite and used the createinstallmedia install method to install the installer to a 16GB flash drive.  I boot clover with the flash drive plugged in and chose the install yosemite entry.  I also have fakesmc and my realtek driver in kexts/10.10.  I chose to boot the installer with injected kexts.

The boot messages show fakesmc loading and also the realtek driver.  I then get a bunch of launchd errors about path not found.  This goes on for a minute or 2 then I see a message from the realtek driver saying link up and the connection speed.  I then see some more launchd messages and then my monitor goes in to standby and nothing else happens.

I have a monitor plugged in to the DVI port which is how it has been since 2009.  I am using nvidia injection in clover.  I also enabled vbios and I use vbios patching to enable 1080p in clover.

Can anyone offer any tips?  I do think the installer is loaded it's just that there is no video.

Late 2006 MBP 15" Netflix

27 February 2014 - 07:36 PM

I have an old MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM and the Core2Duo chip.  Lion 10.7.5 is installed.  I'm using it as an HTPC connected to my 65" TV via a DVDI to HDMI adapter and an optical cable going to my amp.  This is working great for movies in plex.  High bitrate 1080p movies work perfect.  Netflix is a different story.  I get bad stuttering during fast scenes.  1080p is almost unusable.  720p is at least watchable but isn't perfect.

I've tried using firefox, chrome, kylo and safari.  They all perform the same way with netflix.

Is this expected for my hardware or should I consider doing a wipe and install 10.6?

GTX560Ti mplayerx no video

13 October 2013 - 11:50 PM

I have an nvidia gtx560ti which has worked almost perfectly for me on mountain lion and now I am on mavericks.  I cannot play videos in mplayerx.  Nothing happens.  No window or anything appears.  Quicktime works fine.  I saw another thread about the same issue only the gpu was an intel.  Is anybody else getting this behvaior?

I'm using clover bootloader (not sure if that matters).  My version is only a few days old.

10.9 - Speedstep no longer working properly

11 October 2013 - 06:46 PM

My system:

Asus P7P55D

Intel i5 750 @ 3.6ghz (18x200)

8GB DDR3 1600MHZ

nvidia GTX560ti

I'm doing some testing with 10.9 on a separate partition.  Pretty much everything is working flawlessly.  I did notice that my speedstep is not working correctly.  In 10.8 I can get 3 multipliers; 9.0, 16.0 and 18.0.  When I am booted in to 10.9 I only get 16 and 18.  Any ideas on where to start looking?

I am using clover bootloader with a DSDT and SSDT.

EDIT:  OK, never mind.  It looks like multiplier 9 works.  It doesn't use multiplier 9 as much as mountain lion did but it does go in to it sometimes.  It may be because this is a new install and the cpu is busy with things like spotlight and such.
