Booting, hell, writing the boot sector was the problem, wrong tips, incomplete ones, I wouldn't have the patience anymore

Yes, I know, in my house, my dad has a real MacBook Air 2011,
OSx86 is for me just a great pastime and a game, maybe even a test for myself.
What happens here, just talk with the community, and I find it very interesting!

This is not tonymacx86, here we only puts to the test the ability of users ......to find that in the end.....we all know a little better the PC and Mac!
...and for you all?

Micky
Well said, and, in fact, we can see that Apple understands this and doesn't prosecute amateurs, but they did stop those who wanted to make it a commerce.
They know very well that the real answer to piracy isn't bullying people, the way Microsoft does, but making better products and that's what they're doing.
A bit of Hackintosh only makes real Macs more popular, most do it for the challenge, very few to spare a little money, of course they can't say "It's OK", but it's obviously tolerated.

There's only one thing to do with T.., stay out of there! the problems is that if you search something, info, tips or software, T.. floods everywhere, a real nuisance indeed

Well now I've a iMac I7 27" full loaded, runs it's a wonder, but nearby there's the hack XW8400, which is much more fun to tamper with.
From the very beginning of it, Osx86 was fun for the technical challenge and for seeing  good machines, crapped by windows or linux in one year, have a new birth like Phoenix, what's the fun of distributions and automatic installs which, if you understand what you're doing, are usually not needed, if you don't, they'll end up in disasters one day or another.

Funny, I must have that DVD somewhere still, I had bought a used PC as a gift for my sister and wanted to set it up, but for some reasons nobody ever understood, windows wouldn't install, linux did so I was trying to make linux aesthetically pleasant looking  and usable for her, no easy task, when the Os/x hack came out, I tried it and it worked, but it was too much fun, so I bought a used B&W for my sister and kept that PC for myself. Later the processor melted during experiments LOL.

Legality? whatever said, you can buy it or not, running Os/X on non-apple hardware isn't legal, so the "buy your copy" is only hypocrisy, sorry guys, it is so. I can patch my

conscience with the fact that I bought many real Macs and, teaching basic informatics at UNI, I always told my students "buy a Mac", so I must have given hundreds new customers to Apple.

can you please detail your steps to get it working?

is the xw4400 and xw8400 the same family ? ie same mainboard? just different intel cpus?

example i read an hp kb "HP xw4400, xw4600, xw6400 or xw8400 Workstation - X may fail to start with Specific NVIDIA Quadro Graphics Cards and certain Red Hat Linux 32 bit versions"
the XW4400 & the XW8400 are quite different, the first is an enhanced PC with a core duo duo, the 2nd is a dual xeon 5150 and needs only fakesmc to work perfectly, I've been playing with the Xw4400 today with mountain Lion, it isn't absolutely perfect as a mac pro as the Xw8400 is but works very well you only need:
fakesmc, nullcpupwermamegement, sleepenabler & a simply patched voodoohda for audio
no DSDT, no SSDT no tampering, nothing! all works perfectly well.
the Xw8400 is superbly stable, fast and reliable and doesn't even need nullcpupwermamegement, sleepenabler, the processor is seen as native
these machines are really different from assembled PC and quality nears that of apple.
