confused on how to install on my laptop?

03 February 2010 - 09:46 AM

i'm trying to find the best information as to how to install os x on my dell xps m1210 laptop.

what's better?

installing with iDeneb, as shown in this guide?: http://www.insanelym...p...1775&st=520

or with boot-132?

how do i find out if boot-132 will work with my specific laptop?

many thanks!

USB wireless adapters for OS X

02 February 2010 - 01:44 AM

hey all.

i know USB wireless adapters that work with OS X is a big topic on the forum here, but i'm having trouble actually finding some proper information about what works and what doesn't. There's a lot of threads about drivers and things that half work, and I just can't seem to find any posts which say the following usb wireless adapters work with OS X.

currently i'm using a Netgear WG111v3 but today it just broke, so i'm looking for another. I had a lot of problems with it anyway, so I was hoping there might be something else that properly works with OS X and has some more reliable drivers.

Any suggestions? Is there anything from D-Link, Linksys, Belkin or anything that is compatible and has good drivers for OS X?

Many thanks.

mac font nitpick?

08 October 2009 - 05:33 AM

hey all.
this might be a bit of a weird thing to post about, but i've just noticed it, and it's a little bit distracting, and cannot figure out why it's happening.

thought somebody might know how to fix it.

i'm on mac os x leopard, with anti-aliasing turned off for fonts below 144. (virtually, off)

i'm trying to use monaco 9 font in some programs i'm using

in most of my programs, basic ones like, textedit, my irc client, even a music program i use a lot called max/msp 4, they all show monaco 9 like this:

in some other music programs i use, REAPER and max/msp 5, the kerning on the exact same font is really odd. it squishes everything and makes somethings uncomfortable to read:

does anybody have any idea why this happens, and if it's fixable?

many thanks!
