#1821258 Starting XML Parser In A Method Possible?

+1 with the ARC hope you had the box ticked when you created your project initially. (Xcode should warn you about non dereferenced ivars though) For the topic on hand, iPoco basically gave you your options and I'm backing the asynchronous method simply because when it comes to downloading, under normal circumstances you don't want to sync it which would require threading and more of a chance that the parsed data might not come through in the event that another thread crashes your app. (Things happen unexpectedly better not open the possibility for it) I personally wouldn't go for a hacky solution to download information via the Internet because I always look at the data being crucial and the odds of the data getting lost along the way due to the non standard way of getting files. You're probably better off going down the aync method although it's a little more cumbersome than sync, it's rewards are undoubtedly better. Only thing that really comes to mind...

Okay I can give you my modified 6000controller to try out assuming your port layout is 2x DVI - HDMI - 2x miniDP (be sure to backup your existing one in the event this doesn't workout). Install do the permission setting and what not, restart, and then at the boot prompt type AtiPorts=5 and AtiConfig=Gibba to load up the Gibba framebuffer which I modified for my 6870 to work. http://cl.ly/3m210d0i3R3x2N1t0N1h

As a person who appreciates a comp in it's entirety yours def looks sick man. First off gotta say you're welcome to the shout out. :star_sunglasses: The cable management inside your case is clean with nothing hanging from anywhere really like it. You're sporting a Sabertooth mobo which is hands down my fav mobo on any chipset it might be on as it's an amazing board. Love how you went overkill on the RAM as it's so cheap nowadays you gotta say to yourself "Why shouldn't I fill all those mem banks." Now if I thoughtthe memory DIMM slots were full I wouldn't say that if I saw the plethora of HDDs you have in that 800D because there's nothing like having too much space I'm pretty sure you know that as well. 8) (Just did a little math btw you around 11TB of storage take away some for formatting but that alone was enough to make me nerdgasm on myself) I see you took my advice well on the good ol airport extreme retro fitting into the ca...

#1818298 Make ASUS EAH6850 100% work!

@ shiecldk You have to remember that my 6870 has 5 ports so that might have to do with the HDMI not working because my hdmi works fine as it's connected to one of my two monitors. There's also a thread in the dsdt section that I posted in using a generic hda dsdt function I implemented it into my dsdt and my audio worked. I'll point you to the thread if you need more specifics. @ Hard233 Sounds like a splendid idea you have going their man I'd def contribute to it the only thing is that I don't run windows so I can't use that radeon_bios_decode thing that they use in windows. If I must though I'll just borrow a windows drive to get that rom information. Also liking the idea of adding the DSDT section for FB injection sounds like a great addition. Definitely anticipating this app seems like a real life and time saver your work is greatly appreciated. :star_sunglasses: @ miliuco The perl script was made for 6870s with the general 5 port layout of (...

#1818114 Profiles on iOS simulator

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 04 May 2012 - 10:44 PM

The simulator can only do so much is the thing there are of course certain things like testing the camera, microphone, etc that you won't be able to do via the simulator. If you're really dev testing you'll want to do it amongst different devices with at least one real device to begin with. Profiles of course can be installed on a regular iPhone that's linked to a dev account so don't depend or look to the simulator to resolve all your issues it's just a sim and not an actual device. The sim of course can't parse the xml data so just hook in your iPhone and test out your app that way. I personally use the sim just to test out little things here and there but nothing beats an actual device when it comes on to real world testing.

#1817982 Best graphic card for $120

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 04 May 2012 - 01:17 PM

Also do yourself a favor and don't get a passive card since there are cases when some gpus will run at full blast at all times and wouldn't want that with a passive cooling card. My general rule of thumb when trying to go for longevity like that is to skip at least one gen. AMD is at the 7xxx now so I'd suggest if you can go 6xxx as i did from a 485O. I just honestly don't see the point in going from a 4xxx card to a Juniper or Cypress card when there are already traces of the 7xxx cards in ML. I'd suggest you save up a little more because Apple tends to kill stuff off [legacy products] without notice so just to be in a safe spot I'd go 6xxx if your budget allows. the 5xxx cards are still existent in ML likewise the 4xxx but it's always good to do a good future proof purchase. [also I just noticed this is in the nVidia section o.o ] Just my two cents of course.

#1817214 Ati HD4850 Hdmi working but not Audio?

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 01 May 2012 - 03:52 AM

You need to do a DSDT edit to get the audio enabled. I psted in some thread somewhere about it I'll try looking for it or if I give up finding it I'll direct you on how to get it working. I have a the same gpu btw just a sapphire brand and hdmi audio works nicely.

#1813609 Windows 8 Developer Preview now available to download

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 14 April 2012 - 07:31 PM

I'm not particularly against Microsoft because I do like and use their Office Suite but their OS in my opinion I only use as my gaming OS since I use my Hackintosh for everything from regular web browsing to app developing. Years ago I wouldn't be saying this but I had been slowly been falling out of the whole Windows OS as my major OS a few years back and found the Hackintosh scene and everything else from there was history.

#1812874 The new Technical FAQ forum

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 11 April 2012 - 02:42 PM

With more and more users joining InsanelyMac, new users seem to find themselves overwhelmed by the whole Hackintosh setup. For most users, there are a common set of issues that normally occur along the way of installing OS X on their PCs which has made the staff ponder to themselves a new area that these commonly asked questions could be placed rather than have the new users section flooded with the redundant questions. The staff has decided to bring forth a new section called the Technical FAQ. This new section of InsanelyMac will be dedicated to those cumbersome questions that spring up so often that they deserved their own part of the forum. This section will focus on giving answers to questions that are generally asked a lot. The FAQ section will be updated time to time with new questions as long as compatibility lists and more. ~InsanelyMac Staff

#1812734 Premiere Pro CS5 woes.

Posted TH3L4UGH1NGM4N on 10 April 2012 - 10:53 PM

Okay I tried it out on my 10.6.8 installation and it works albeit it's called title as opposed to being called titler in Lion. So I can rule out the issue being specific to snow leo but I moreover feel it might be the GPU since there are openGL issues in the crash log just wanted you to try it on Lion to see if the problem still persists.

Unless you know another means of getting your gpu to work aside from your current method that could rule out the method of how the card working. Is there any chance btw that could Lion running on a separate partition just to test this out?

From the crash log it seems the main thread is crashing and seems to be related to apple frameworks as the crashes are not apparent when in safe mode. It's weird though because the frameworks that aren't loaded in safe mode that cause the issue don't seem to affect the way the titler works for you as you said. I'll try booting into my snow leo installation later and see if I get the chance to check and see if the issue occurs. Another thing though, there are some openGL references in the crash which are gpu based so your card may possibly be another factor (not saying that it is). I noticed at the bottom where your system info is in the log that it shows the card as unknown nVidia card. Your card has QE/CI enabled I'm assuming correct? Might just be the crash log displaying it as unknown but I want to be sure so I can route out the possibility of lack of QE.
