Windows 7 Disappeared

15 January 2011 - 11:46 PM

Hey guys I have a dell m1330 and am tri booting windows 7, snow leopard, and linux mint. Until today everything was working perfectly. Today I decided to upgrade to 10.6.6. The installation itself went fine, and after deleting applehda (which was causing a kernel panic because I also had voodoohda installed), I rebooted to make sure everything worked. Chameleon detected that all three OS's were installed, but when I tried to run windows, I got the infamous blinking cursor. I then thought it was a chameleon problem and tried to reinstall chameleon, but now the windows partition doesn't even appear. Instead it says Unknown GPT, which, when opened, just boots chameleon again.
I tried to reinstall chameleon and nothing changed. I also tried to set the windows partition as active in both gparted and the osx fdisk tool. The osx tool did nothing, but gparted allowed me to boot to the flashing underscore. I then tried to load the windows installation disk to recover the original mbr bootloader, so I could start the chameleon install from scratch, but the disk kept saying that I was using a different windows version, which usually means that its not detecting the partition properly.
I've tried everything I know, which may not be much, so now I need some expert advice.

Dell m1330 10.6.2 Sound

01 June 2010 - 01:08 AM

Hey guys, I recently accidentally updated snow leopard on my m1330 to 10.6.2, and it ended up messing with the sound. Does anyone happen to have a working kext for the dell m1330 sound for 10.6.2? The sound was working fine before, though it was a little quieter than it should have been. I also tried the newest voodoohda kext, including slice's version, and neither worked, so I'm not quite sure what to do.

Multiboot got very messed up

16 May 2010 - 11:14 PM

Hey guys, I have another problem. I had a perfeclt running windows 7 and snow leopard dual boot. Yesterday I tried to install Linux mint, but I decided not to install it, and exited the setup when it told me to choose an installation partition. However, I also somewhat tampered with gparted. All I did was to change the windows 7 drive label an format a Fat partition I had made for Linux, into ntfs. After that neither windows 7 nor snow leopard booted. I went back into gparted and changed everything back o how it was before but still to no avail.
Also, whenever I add a boot flag to a drive, that drive is the only on that doesn't show up. I thought gparted was messed up, so I tried to repair with my win 7 disk. However the repair tells me my windows version is not compatible (although it worked before). So then I tried to boot into my windows partition using a chameleon disk I had. It worked, but windows told me my bootsector was messed up, and to restart with the repair disk. The repair disk keeps telling me the windows version is not compatible, and I end up in a circle.
Then I tried to boot snow leopard and I got A kernel panic.

Whew...that was a lot. I have no idea where to go with this. I will try to fix it and post updates , but does anyone know where to start?

Snow Leopard Boot Issue (Maybe Chameleon Related)

25 April 2010 - 11:50 PM

Hey guys. Man have I made a lot of problem threads lately. Anyways here is my problem:
I recently installed both chameleon and the voodoops2. When I restarted I got the error saying that I had to restart, which didn't go away after restarting.

I installed macdrive on my windows 7 partition so I could access the snow leopard partition. I deleted the voodoops2 kext and the voodoops2 folder, which did not help. I also booted mac into safe mode and installed Chameleon rc4 manually, which allowed chameleon to work. Before I had used the Chameleon installer to use it, which:
1) caused the problem I think
2) did not work

I'm not sure how to fix this problem. I was trying to find the chameleon files, so I could uninstall it. Any help?

Windows 7 and Snow Leopard Install Problem

17 April 2010 - 03:23 PM

Hey guys, I have a problem. I am trying to dual boot snow leopard and windows 7 on my dell m1330 laptop. I started out by formatting the hard drive with a GPT format, and then I made one partition for SL and one for Win7. I tried to isntall Windows 7 first (because it was going to be my primary OS), but the installer won't let me install because of the GPT formatted hard drive. Then I tried SL, which installed fine. I then re-tried installing 7, to no avail.

Next I tried to see if I could get SL working on mbr, which it wouldn't do. I'm not quite sure what to do here, because all the posts I read make it seem as though people got Win7 working on GPT without any extra effort.

Anyone have some ideas?
