#2221942 HP Z400/Z600/Z800 Workstations OS X 10.10.x/10.11.x Installation

Posted by djfremen on 08 March 2016 - 09:15 PM

I was able once to get to the desktop after install on z800 using all files provided here.  Then I ran this post installer and I could not boot anymore :(  What is the procedure once you run this installer does it replace the needed kext or do i have to manually add them again?  I am not understanding it right maybe.  Also I had all disk connected in sas and sata ports along with 2 raid cards along with onboard LSI raid and to my surprise it booted fine inside after the first install.  Doing the post install thing for z800 provided here did not work for me.  But I will try it again. I used Rockey's bios settings for z800 and I see my bios has more options then his.  what version of bios you running?  my is lates 3.57 i think. Thanks for info Also for the osx beta is that just the update after or should i install it on the usb ?  Thanks Yeah, I had the same issue with the post installer. I had to manually install Clover...

Confirmed working with z400 and 10.11 (El Cap) What a breeze compared to Enoch method. 1. Create USB key via Chris1111 2. Copy files / DSDT into EFI partition of USB key (inside the 10.11 folder for kext) 3. Boot from USB key. 4. Install OS -- without boot flags - reboot. 5. Load OS, use post install via Chris1111. 6. Mount EFI partition and move DSDT and Kext files from USB key to folders. 7. Repair permissions. 8. Install Audio as above (Codec Commander) 9. Update to Beta (if you want). Excellent work everyone. Clover is vastly superior due to the hidden Kext / DSDT files and update potential.

OK - I'm 100% running now without issues on 10.11.3!   :thumbsup_anim: Various issues fixed with DSDT (including Intel ESB2 AHCI). My advice is to wait to install DSDT though, only after successful usb install (don't use it on USB extra). Attached you'll see my extra folder. Please disregard sil3132.kext if you don't have that hardware. Keep me posted if anyone gets this working with Clover. Thanks, http://browser.prima...kbench3/5202019  Extra.zip 3.15MB 63 downloads

Great Have you boot without -x and you haven't any problem with freezes in finder?Yes. Booted as above without -x and NV_Disable. No issues other than installing the drivers. Network worked out of box (AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext) and Graphics (NVDANV50HAL). RAM is reporting wrong amount. Easy fix. No USB issues. No Freezes in Finder associated with chipset. Used sil3132.kext from Sonnet to get past legacy AHCI issue. Still troubleshooting that. This may be the cause of finder freezes others are experiencing. I'll report back if I make some headway.

Good News: The Enoch Method works for 10.11 - El Captain. On other Mac / Hack: Create an El Captain 8GB USB via the Enoch installer. Use Kext Wizard to install Micky's Block Storage Kext (posted on page 1) and rebuild / repair permissions in extra on USB. Update on "AHCIPortInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext" and "IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext" - these kexts cause USB kernel panic, do not use for El Cap install! Boot from USB: Use the following flags to get into the installer: -x -f -v PCIRootUID = 0 GraphicsEnabler = Yes Nv_disable = 1 Hope this helps anyone trying to get this working on El Cap.

#1894538 New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Yes but QUO is covering themselves by saying 'all OS' supported, they're not making the cardinal mistake Psystar made by pre-installing. Also, Apple would have a hard time telling all its vendors to use different chipsets. The reason this board works (on paper) is because Apple uses these components in their Mac Pro. Honestly, I'm way more concerned with Apple going exclusively to ARM. That could be catastrophic.

Have the 9800 GT (basically the same card) working with a custom DSDT. Couldn't get it working otherwise and tried just about everything. RampageDev (google him) helped me write it. You should ask him. He's super knowledgable about these cards. Good Luck.

Ended up using an old 64 bit driver. Now it sees it as parallel SCSI. (See Attached)  ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349410537.490697.jpg 219.96KB 42 downloads
