Upgrading from Intel GMA to ANYTHING ATI or nVidia

17 April 2007 - 04:20 AM

I know the info is posted elsewhere, but it took me awhile to find it, thus it took me awhile to fix it, so I'm making it more visible for people

DISCLAIMER: If you installed with JaS DVD and used the Intel GMA packages and plan on upgrading to ATI or nVidia (AGP or PCIe) then you MUST get the original OpenGL.Framework from the DVD!!!!!!!!

1. buy new card.
2. sudo cp -R /Volumes/(Jas DVD mountpoint)/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.Framework /System/Library/Frameworks/
3. add natit and change nvdaresman, geforce, and nvdanv1,2,3,40.
4. repair
5. rm /System/Library/Extensions.*
6. power off
7. install card
8. power on and get lucky.

Vista +iTunes/Quicktime issue

11 April 2007 - 04:20 PM

Every time I try to add to my library (or play) one of my mp4 videos (Which plays fine in media player classic, and just fine on other vista pc's itunes) in Quicktime or iTunes, My computer crashes with a random stop error (0xa, 0xd1). I tried disabling my video card driver, but that didn't solve the problem. I had vista enterprise as a standalone installation, (same pc), and it did this too. My current installation is Vista Ultimate upgraded from XP MCE (both fully legit).

I think it might be a codec problem, but I'm not sure. I tried using AVIcodec to disable the windows mp4 decoders, but that also didn't solve the problem. I have reinstalled iTunes multiple times. Still no go. Does ANYONE have any clue on how to fix this? Any troubleshooting ideas?

PS. the stop errors aren't in any particular file. I can send minidumps if requested.

Any clue? Ive tried Natit v1 standalone (nothing) and Natit v1with dev.id in 40hal and resman. no go.

Tried Titan standalone and got the attached picture with a cursor.

Any ideas?

nVidia QE/CI on External, but not internal laptop display

29 March 2007 - 04:15 AM

Has anyone that has been able to get QE/CI on external, but not on the laptop display had any success?

After booting with -v, the text scrolls by and then goes to black. I've got QE/CI on external though....

I've tried every combination I can think of already, but please post what has worked for you.
