lspci was working before, but lately I get this error: "lspci: Cannot find any working access method"

What could be the possible reason for this?

I've got the same problem, and the same question.

Anyone have an answer?

Me:
Dell Inspiron 1720 - Vanilla 10.6.4
GMA 965 X3100 (WORKING @ 1440x900x32 Res)
4GB Ram
Sigmatel 9205 Sound - NOT working
everything else = peachy
