Hackintosh GPU half speed, proving needed!

24 April 2013 - 06:28 AM

[Updated]:

I am thinking that Apple is doing something special to make the graphic performance of hackintosh staying half. I don't have many cards to prove this. If you guys are interested, please post CUDA-Z screenshot compared to CUDA-Z in Windows.

CUDA-Z can be found here:

http://cuda-z.sourceforge.net/

I thought I had built a perfect mackintosh, but I was wrong. The GPU kept running at half speed :(
I changed smbios from MacPro 3,1 to iMac 12,2, and I noticed that AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext was loaded, but the GPU was still running half speed no matter I kept AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext or had it removed.
Please see the pictures. Performance in Windows 7 is much higher than that in OS X.

What would happen to Fusion Drive when there is a power loss?

16 January 2013 - 04:31 PM

The real Mac - iMac or Mac mini do not have any batteries, what would happen when there is a power loss?
I am considering building a hackintosh with Fusion Drive, but before I do, I'd like to know whether it is stable.
Currently I have the OS X and Applications on the SSD, and a 2TB HDD divided into 2 partitions, one for Time Machine, which backs up all my content on the SSD, one for Data like movies and downloads. I am considering moving to the Fusion Drive.

[Help] Ivy Bridge MacBook Pro 13-inch users needed

09 September 2012 - 06:39 PM

Is there anyone who can help test the opencl capablity on the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, the one with Ivy Bridge processor.
I know the HD 4000 is good enough to beat nVidia 320M at some points. But is it good at OpenCL? Many pro applications like Aperture, Final Cut Pro uses OpenCL to enhance the computing power.
If you own an Ivy Bridge MacBook Pro 13-inch, and you are willing to be the tester, please download the opencl benchmark tool here( http://www.macupdate...---ati- -nvidia ) and run the program, capture a screen shot, and post it here.
Here is mine. MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid-2010, C2D 2.4GHz/8G RAM/128G SSD/nVidia 320M
Result: around 37fps
