USB ports stopped working after installing

28 October 2013 - 04:52 AM

Hi,

Installation seemed to go fine. After rebooting no USB ports work. If I plug in a mouse the LED lights up momentary and then turns off.

Any ideas of what kext or boot options could be used to fix this? I tried USBBusFix=Yes without success.

Below is some information about the system.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500
USB Controller: 82801JD/DO (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI
OS: 10.9 Mavericks

The linux driver that's loaded for it is uhci_hcd if that helps at all.

during boot with -v I noticed this message

USBF unable to get filterinterrupteventsource

Thanks

EeePC 1000HA iATKOS S3 Upgrade to 10.6.8?

21 August 2013 - 08:47 PM

Has anyone been able to upgrade their EeePC 1000H or 1000HA from 10.6.3 to 10.6.7 or 10.6.8?

when I follow these instructions

1.Remove caches folder on library
2.Remove caches folder on system/library
3.Run Disk Utility and click Repaired disk permissions
4.Restart or reboot
5.Go to System Preferences and click Energy Saver
6.Drag two line cursor to never posision and unclick Put the hard disk bla..bla..and Allow power button bla..bla..
7.Go to applications/Utilitis and click Show-Hide Files app
8.Go to root mac HD Installations :
- Open Extra Folder
- Open Extensions Folder and remove or delete SleepEnabler.kext
9.BackUp IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStroageClass.kext on Sytem/Library/Extensions Folder
10.Install 10.6.7 UpdateCombo>wait to finish>Don't Restart or Reboot Computer
11.Copy IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStroageClass.kext (U BackUp) to Sytem/Library/Extensions Folder
12.Run Kext Utility>wait to finish>Restart or Reboot Computer

I lose USB, video, and Wifi. Not being able to plug in a USB storage device, or connect to the internet makes it impossible to load any files onto the computer after the upgrade, so it's hard to find a fix without knowing what's wrong.

The options I used to install iATKOS were from here: http://www.insanelym...ts-almost-100/

and everything works for 10.6.3

Apple logo takes up 2/3 of screen during install

26 November 2012 - 04:28 AM

Hi,

I'm trying to install 10.8.2 using tony's thing.

When I boot with the USB key tony's thing created I get to the installation screen but ~2/3 of it is still covered by the Apple logo. I have tried GraphicsEnabler=No, and -x -v, but they produce the same results. (-x -v, shows the last few lines ouf output instead of the apple logo, but it also takes up 2/3 of the screen)

Same results for the DVI or VGA outputs of the card. I have tried a 6600 with the same results. Is this card too old for 10.8? Any ideas as to what to try next?

Thanks

Specs:
MB: Asus P5B-E
RAM: 4GB DDR2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 6600
GPU: nvidia 6800

just tried an nvidia 8800GT. screen turns off after spinny thing. tried no boot options, GraphicsEnabler=No, and -x -v

the 8800 gets to the install screen if I use PCIRootUID=0 as a boot parameter.
