#1822758 ATTENZIONE: LEGGETE TUTTI (SU TONYMACX86)

Posted Alessandro17 on 25 May 2012 - 12:18 PM

#1822682 VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ! (ABOUT TONYMACX86)

Posted Alessandro17 on 25 May 2012 - 01:47 AM

Because some people are still trying to overcome the forum filters meant to avoid tonymac's and his tools' discussion, from now on everybody trying to do so will be severely punished, from one month suspension to a full ban. You have been warned! If you are still wondering why we do this, read here: http://prasys.info/2...ymac-seriously/ Please also read: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=279451

#1820092 Mac Pro or a PC?

Posted Alessandro17 on 12 May 2012 - 10:09 PM

Buying a Mac Pro right now would be madness. It hasn't been update in almost 2 years, but the cheapest configuration, with low specs for 2012, costs more than 2 beautiful and powerful hackintoshes you can build yourself. We don't even know if Apple is going to abandon the Mac Pro.

#1819891 Ubuntu overtaken by Linux Mint

When Ubuntu was first released, I wasn't a Linux newbie any longer. I had tried almost every single Linux distribution. That made me an Ubuntu hater from day one.

#1819372 Permanently Banned From Tonymacx86

Posted Alessandro17 on 10 May 2012 - 08:18 AM

Sorry to read that, which finally seems to prove my point. Do you remember this post? No measure whatsoever was taken against you for simply expressing an opinion. Nor against notshy. Unfortunately I had to take eelhead's posting rights away because he insisted on attacking InsanelyMac and on calling us "pirates", which is blatantly not true, as we do not condone piracy in any way. True, I have decided that distributions can be discussed (without links to torrents or to other pirated software), because doing otherwise would have meant denying our past, when distributions were the only available solution, and hindering our present users who still wish to use distributions. Needless to say, you are welcome to develop your full potential here, without any restriction other than the forum rules. And even so, we do not ban so easily, most of times a temporary measure is plenty.

#1815637 SOS: Save Our Slackware?

Posted Alessandro17 on 23 April 2012 - 03:15 PM

http://www.thepowerb...-our-slackware/ Is Slackware in danger of disappearing? Slackware is the oldest Linux distribution. It is nothing like most modern Linux distributions: QuoteDesign philosophy The design philosophy of Slackware is oriented toward simplicity, software purity, and a core design that emphasizes lack of change to upstream sources. Many design choices in Slackware can be seen as a heritage of the simplicity of traditional Unix systems and as examples of the KISS principle.[12] In this context, "simple" refers to the simplicity in system design, rather than necessarily implying directly attempting the simplification of ease of use. Thus, ease of use may vary between users: those lacking knowledge of command line interfaces and classic Unix tools may experience a steep learning curve using Slackware, whereas users with a Unix background may benefit from a less abstract system environment. In keeping with Slackware's design philosophy, and its spirit...

#1814765 Is it legal to install OS X on a PC?

Posted Alessandro17 on 19 April 2012 - 03:47 PM

Hackintoshing is not illegal, provided you own a legal copy of OS X. In fact, having a pirated copy of Windows is much worse from a legal point of view. At most, it is breach of EULA, which is a private contract between Apple and you. The legal status of EULAs varies from country to country. In any case, keep in mind that you can't be sent to prison and that breach of EULA has nothing to do with the police (it is not a criminal offence). For more, read here DISCLAIMER: The opinions expressed above are mine & do not necessarily reflect the views of InsanelyMac or its owners. Secondly, I am not a lawyer, and the above is merely the legal position to the best of my knowledge, errors & omissions excepted etc etc. (by Hagar).
