Let's pay respect to the memory of Jo Cox, who died because of her ideals.

To my British friends. I lived in the UK for many years and I loved the UK and its people dearly. I believe virtually everybody loved me. What happens if you vote leave on 23 June, will I be a foreigner in what I see as my country? You don't need to be born in a place to belong there. In my very humble opinion it won't be good for Britain either, but the finest British minds have already told you that. Join my Facebook group if you want: https://www.facebook...78761852422484/

I will not buy any new MacBooks unless they reintroduce the 17". The idea of using a Windows 10 device doesn't sound that bad these days.

New filesystem, a replacement for the HFS+  Very good, we have been waiting for this for yearsSiri - We expected this since El Capitan. Also good, but not terribly importantARM CPU support. Bad, what need do they have to change CPUs at this stage? It would probably take years for the transition to be complete  http://appleinsider....ustom-arm-chips

#2199429 Arch Linux: a review

Posted by Alessandro17 on 21 December 2015 - 11:43 PM

Jesse Smith of DistroWatch has published a review of Arch Linux: http://distrowatch.c...e=20151221#arch He thinks basically like me:Arch Linux presents an investment in time, reading and maintenance that I do not find practical for my day-to-day needs. But I do think we could all agree running Arch Linux is an educational experience. Running Arch is something I think will appeal to people who like to build their operating systems rather than simply run them.  And thus it is not for me and I suspect many other people will feel the same.

Windows 10 is still very unstable, thus for any serious work I'd use Windows 7 or 8

Don't you need a printer any longer? And some printer drivers for Mac are awful.

#2141538 [New!] Linux Distributions Poll

Posted by Alessandro17 on 03 June 2015 - 10:59 PM

Its true in general linux has become less interesting over the past years, my interest in it peaked some 10 years ago. In my case even longer, around 2003. But it was the year of Mandrake 9.1, Libranet 2.8.1, SUSE 9.0... Those were great distributions which made you believe that one day Linux could replace Windows on the desktop. I preferred using SUSE 9.0 to Windows XP.

There is nothing left to be said in this topic that hasn't already been said. It is turning into petty bickering. Therefore I am closing it for now.
