Since macOS 10.10+ I am getting Errors that my CPU does not support Virtualization (Although it is enabled in Bios), while using Virtualization Applications Like VMware Fusion & Docker
After some Research I found that most of those apps since macOS 10.10+ depend on "Apple Hypervisor Framework", and this Framework needs VT-x, EPT, and Unrestricted Mode (VMX Unrestricted mode)
Supported Hardware Generally, machines with an Intel VT-x feature set that includes Extended Page Tables (EPT) and Unrestricted Mode are supported. You can determine the availability of Hypervisor APIs on a particular machine at runtime with the sysctl(8) command, passing kern.hv_support as an argument.
I checked my CPU documentation and found that my CPU Support all these features - Intel-Core-i7-720QM (https://ark.intel.co...-Cache-1_60-GHz)
sysctl -a | grep machdep.cpu.features machdep.cpu.features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM PBE SSE3 DTES64 MON DSCPL VMX SMX EST TM2 SSSE3 CX16 TPR PDCM SSE4.1 SSE4.2 POPCNT
but although all of that when I run this command , I got that my CPU is not supported !
sysctl kern.hv_support kern.hv_support: 0
Errors from Applications :
This host does not support virtualizing real mode. The Intel "VMX Unrestricted Guest" feature is necessary to run this virtual machine on an Intel processor. Module 'CPUIDEarly' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine.
Fatal Error Incompatible CPU detected. Docker requires a processor with virtualization capabilities. To learn more about this issue see: https://docs.docker.com/docker-for-mac/troubleshoot
My Question is :
1) Is this issue Hackintosh specific, Related to Clover, DSDT, SSDT ?
2) Anyone getting "kern.hv_support: 1" , when running "sysctl kern.hv_support" on Hackintosh ?
