Run OSX Yosemite on a Dell Optiplex 780 This tutorial will describe the steps to install Yosemite on a Dell Optiplex 780 (this will also works on a 760). The installation goes to the latest version of 10.10, and when there is a new update i will change the tutorial as soon as possible. If you find any mistakes or have something to improve then please send me a PM and i will update the tutorial. I have also included the PDF file of the guide and the zip file to install OSX Yosemite. A special thanks goes to Brian from Tech Erra for using parts of their tutorial. I am from The Netherlands so sorry for my bad English. 1. @pepto "vendor and device ID system profiler" What do you mean by that? If I just choose right model as you suggest there are some other tricks I should be aware of?No not other tricks but what i describe in my tutorial you can use i have also a 5450 from dell and he had a different vendor ID not the one i describe in my tutorial. So always check in system profiler thats all.The tutorial for Yosemite will take longer, i have tested also with Chameleon but i will switch to clover because its now more stable. And i am also sick this week the flu caught me.And i also celebrate the 100.000 views this weekend amazing :)

The tutorial will come later for who wanna install it now here are some links and files. For the tutorial to make a USB drive and install clover read this http://forum.osxlati...-finalgm-3pb-4/ Also i have put my clover directory, copy the folder to the EFI wich are mention in the tutorial and merge the files.Don't use the files from the tutorial in place of that use my files. Also the optiplex must be connected to the internet but choose after first boot this computer is not connected to the internet. This is a quick guide for now i will be working for a tutorial as soon as possible. I used the original mavericks file from the app store (in that mavericks file: Show Package Contents -> Contents -> SharedSupport -> InstallESD.dmg) Your Install109.zip And for Chameleon: http://www.insanelym...ameleon-22-svn/  ( Chameleon-2.2svn-r2377.pkg.zip) And instead of using your ShowHiddenFiles utility, I used these lines: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES killall Finder Hello Mark i have made a new Bootable USB Stick with myHack 3.3.1 which boot without problems for the Dell 780. You must create the stick with myHack. If you wanna know howto make a bootable stick with myHack follow my tutorial for the Latitude E6320 but keep in mind that you use the extra for the optiplex 780. You can find the link here http://www.insanelym...itude-e6320-i5/ I will also change the tutorial for the 780 for use with myHack but it will take a while.

for those who prefer staying on chameleon - its not possible with chameleon atm, but there is a detour. i installed vmware fusion - installed mavericks virtual machine - installed iWork, iLife, Aperture in the VM, after that links appeared in AppStore on hackintosh.I have done 2 installtions on the Dell780 1 with Chameleon and 1 with Clover after installing clover i was able to update iLife, iWork and aperture, i have also created a recovery disk and with clover the option in icoud find my mac works.Clover is doing more things than chameleon thats why i preffered Clover but with my 4K HDD i can't boot with clover only with a standard HDD with 160GB and 512 KB cache.First i have a boot 0 error and after sloving the boot 0 error i get a boot1 error with clover.

Hello i am at the moment busy with the install of Mavericks to make it 100% stable, i have found some issue's and i will also improve the performance of the Dell Optiplex 780 and 760.I am also testing some new kext files wich have been posted in this thread to see what they do extra outside the kext i have used in the install109.zip. The problems i have discovered with my kext files are.Volume adjust doesn't work (already have a new kext file that works, not in the install109.zip) Sleep/Wake up problem (No problems with the kext i delivered in the zip.) Update iWork, iLife and Aperture doesn't work message about appleID (fixed with clover) Boot1:error with Clover on a 4K HDD (trying to use Clover bootloader because the appleID error with updating iLife, iWork and Aperture)When all issue's are solved i will rewrite the tutorial and put the new files in the zip.

@Grim Reaper, "Patched_10.7_AppleRTC.kext" from Myhack should fix the Bios reset issue, keep us posted. @pepto, feel free to include whatever you want, in fact I`m so sorry we`ve hijacked your thread, didn`t mean to...I`m still investigating why my system would`t boot if it weren`t for a fixed "AppleACPIPlatform.kext"...I`m stumped, other than that, and maybe a more elaborate DSDT (sorry, almost forgot), our "OptiPlex" is very hackintoshable...let me know if you need anything else, I`d be more than pleased to help, and thank you so much for everything.Hello Lukin no problem that you hijacked my post, i love it that we all make progress with the optiplex 780.I wanna use all of your files which helped the sleep so i can use it in the install files.
