In Topic: Mac OSX on ASUS P5Q and ASUS P5Q PRO AND SOME OTHER P5Q MOBO ALSO

21 December 2008 - 04:07 AM

Well I just spend a few hours reinstalling my box from scratch, because the 10.5.6 upgrade trashed my box...
I had a working iAtkos 10.5.4 updated to 10.5.5, before trying to upgrade to 10.5.6.
When I used the combo update, it froze around 16% with a crash screen.
On reboot, it just sits there and cannot startup. -v doesn't give much details.
I reproduced this consistently, with a fresh install of iAtkos: after the combo update to 10.5.6 it trashes the machine.
I suspect this is due to the disks I have on the Marvell SATA controller, but I'm not sure I want to retry the upgrade and waste another afternoon again... :(
Right now, I'm back to 10.5.4.

Config:
Asus P5Q
6 HD + 1 DVD drive on SATA ports
Realtek ethernet card
nVidia PCI-E video card
External USB sound card

In Topic: Attansic L1 Driver Project

Hi, the errors youve got are common, if youve got them, it is working, or almost, the Attansic L1e Ethernet is a bit different from the original, but it should work with some mod

Jimmy,
Thanks for the info, but what mod/work remains to be done is unclear to me?
If I can get the project files, I'm happy to debug and patch it for this controller. Any chance of getting access to it?
Thanks.

Hi,
First, thanks for to DaemonES, MadInt and Jimmy Mallman: that's some great work.
I have the same problem as drLB: the Attansic L1 driver doesn't work on an ASUS P5Q, which contains an Attansic L1E integrated NIC (vendor ID: 1969, card ID: 1026). After installing the (very) convenient package, I modified the Info.plist file and added 0x10261969 to the IOCPIMatch entry, and rebooted. I got the following message in the /var/log/system.log:

[AttansicL1Ethernet] Error: Mac address through SPI is invalid
AttansicL1Ethernet: Ethernet address 00:22:15:0e:e5:40

and the card isn't accessible.
I'd love to help debug this issue, but I don't have access to the source code. Any chance of having a look at it?
Thanks.
