Crash after OSInstall.mpkg ?

15 November 2006 - 01:03 AM

Does anyone's system crash upon the completion of OSInstall.mpkg?

I'm testing the new kernel and I'm wondering if there is any adverse effect on the newly installed system (the new install works)?

Specs are in sig if anyone wants to know.

Permissions/Ownership problem?

12 November 2006 - 08:14 PM

I've installed 10.4.8 with the new kernel using the pastebin guide on my system (see sig) and everything appears to be fine, except the fact that I get errors stating that ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleAC97Audio.kext have been improperly installed.

So, this leaves me without any working audio and mouse (strangely enough my PS2 keyboard still works).

Now, I've tried repairing permissions via Disk Utility and under single user mode (following the pastebin guide) to no avail.

So, has anyone got any suggestions?

VMWare?

13 October 2006 - 04:48 AM

It has been a while since I have actually used OSx86 in VMWare and OSx86 in general. I apparently lost interest in May because of various reasons --- mainly because of my AMD hardware.

Anyways, I have a dying urge to use OSx86 right now, and I feel that this is the best route to go as I had very good luck with it.

I plan to install 10.4.3 then 10.4.4 using the method Maxxuss documented when 10.4.4 was first released (with the original restore disc image, of course). With no offence to any of the people who work extremely hard to get patched updates out to the community, I feel very strongly against mixing and matching files and such.

So my question is what needs to be edited/added in the VMWare config file?

I think paevm needs to be set to true and some other things, which I can't recall, need to be changed.

Can anyone ID this composition?

Link: http://rapidshare.de.../fight.wav.html

Note: For those who aren't familiar with RapidShare, just scroll to the bottom and hit 'Free' to download.

Anyways, this composition was used by someone as backing music for a movie they had made.

So, if you know the name of this composition/its origin/whatever, please post :)

Err, Goatsecx?

14 June 2006 - 01:50 AM

I've been out of the OSx86 scene for about three weeks, but I think I'm ready to get back in :)

Now, with that said, I'm glad to see that there has been another release of a 10.4.6 DVD.

So, can anyone tell me about the differences between JaS' 10.4.6 and Goatsecx's 10.4.6?
