VMWare supports ISO mounting. Create a VPC and install OSX within. You can actually tell VMWare to use a physical HDD on VPC. I did my 1st install on VMWare and an empty HDD, after that I'm able to direct boot my PC with it.
Worth a try for those don't have a DVD writer.
To comment on this, the ISO mounting feature within VMWare doesn't fully support/recognize HFS+ volumes. This may lead to problems while installing.
Most people recommend that you mount the image with Alcohol 120%/Daemon Tools, make the drive available to VMWare and use that instead to install.
