White Macbook Keeps Getting Error When Trying To Install Leopard

14 July 2009 - 07:10 PM

i keep getting an error everytime i try to install leopard onto my white macbook.

Currently my macbook has nothing on it at all, completely wiped, no OS at all.

the error i keep getting is something along the lines of

"failed to verify the essentials package"

i read up and apparently this is a ram problem so..

First off i tried leopard with the default factory two 1gb sticks of ram.

I then tried changing the ram to a 1gb stick from another laptop with no problems.

i then tried changing to two 2gb sticks from a brand new laptop with no problems.

yet i still get teh same error.

lastly i tried downloading and installing Snow Leopard.

I now get thsi error,

reading from /System/Installation/Packages/BaseSystem.pkg: Input/output error
error processing data: Input/output error
Retrying file://localhost/System/Installation/Packages/basesystem.pkg: after 3 failures
Failed to retrieve file://localhost/system/installation/packages/basesystem.pkg (Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=5 User Info=0x1072c2ca0 "The operation couldn't be completed. Input/output error")
Install failed: The installer could not copy the necessary support files.

install from external hardrive?

12 July 2009 - 01:51 AM

i have a dmg for the original leopard installation disc.

I have a macbook white with no operating system on it. I can not install from disc as everytime i try it gives me an error for "failed to verify essentials package". I've tried burning several different copies, disc's, images, etc.

None work and i get the exact same error.

I now want to try install from an external hardrive, but obviously i dont have a computer/laptop running OSX.

so i want to know is there anyway to restore the leopard dmg onto an external hardrive in windows?

how to install leopard on macbook without a superdrive?

12 June 2009 - 02:18 AM

ok, i have a white macbook, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd, late 07/early 07 model.

the superdrive is now ejecting discs and nothing works in it, ive tried a few things but nothing works, think i have to replace it.

anyway, im trying to get leopard onto the HDD, but obviously cant..

i installed a patched version on VMWARE, but thats the closest i got. Im wondering if i can copy the OS from VMWARE onto my HDDs 2nd partion and make it bootable?

any help.

also VMWARE says my clock speed is reading 2094MHZ instead of 2100MHZ so the clock will be wrong in the guest os. i think its affecting the mouse speed aswell because so far everything seems fast.. how would i stop that?

DISC 1 hard drive =
1st partition = windows Seven RC1 (Main Os 2)
2nd partition = Unallocated (WANT TO INSTALL MAC ON THIS)
