I'm not very sure about this, but my computer has sleep issues even on windows, appears to be an issue with X58. But my motherboard is R2E so it might differ.

If it's getting stuck on the line "IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 88:111" then replacing AppleACPIPlatform.kext with an older version (I'm using 1.3.5) fixed the slow boot issue for me.

That did the trick. Thank you very much!

Just wanna say I managed to get Mountain Lion working on my R2E.

I replaced the DSDT in the Mountain-Lionize package with the one maltba uploaded in Page 35, and after installation I ran finalize before the installer restarted the computer (I chose not to install Chameleon). Booted from the USB stick to the HDD install, dropped AppleHDA.kext (uploaded by maltba) into Kext Utility, installed r2042 Chameleon, and restart, voila! sound.

But boot time is extremely slow, takes up to 1.5 minutes. Haven't ran with verbose mode yet so I'm not sure what's the issue..
Use an older version of AppleACPIPlatform.kext (I used 1.3.5 as suggested by Sennen).

EDIT: Updated to 10.8.1, no tweaking required.

EDIT: Dual monitors not working! :(

EDIT: Updated to 10.8.2, I reinstalled AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleHDA.kext through Kext Wizard.

i've just took the installation stick and booted up the Mountain Lion Partition with it.I think your problem is dual booting related. are you on a mbr drive? if not try to unconnected all other drives beside the mac os x drive and then try booting up with the installation usb stick(just choose the Mountain Lion Partition when Chameleon appears) and if it boots then try reinstalling chameleon. also make sure you select the correct drive in bios boot orders.

I'm on GUID and I always only have 1 hard disk installed when I attempt an installation, I'm sure I booted up the correct partition (through the Chameleon on my Mountain-Lionized install stick), and I'll always get errors pertaining to SMC (if I don't run finalize), and booting freezes here:

for the audio. make sure you install the kext with the Kext Utility app i've provided. Also make sure you've installed the DSDT.aml i've provided.Furthermore make sure you don't use that one they've inserted into my post. download this one:

and install it with the Kext Utility App

Yep I'm using your file, I've installed DSDT.aml.

I think I need to figure out how to make my ML boot up without running finalize.
Did you select the options pertaining to making an ASUS X58 install when making the USB stick through Mountain-Lionize?

It's ok btw, I wanna try to figure it out too haha.

Hey maltba, I'm on R2E motherboard too. Just wondering how did you boot your ML without running finalize, after installation? My installation just doesn't boot if I don't run finalize, and if I do, my audio will be broken (even when I try to install your AppleHDA.kext over the old one).

Also having problems with dual-booting - Chameleon just doesn't boot even after I installed it. Might have something to do with my Mountain Lion partition being the 5th one..
